The flood myth actually has scientific basis in fact, however it was hardly a global flood... There was global flooding on a massive scale at that point in earth's history, however it was not the entire earth covered in water. The persistant myth of the Noah legend (or other versions thereof) is likely rooted in some truth (certainly not the version that's told) back in ancient history, however, to blindly believe everything the bible says as 100% truth would be to allow oneself to be guided by foolishness. The Bible most certainly is an interesting archaeological study, historical study, cultural study, but almost as many biblical myths have been archeologically disproven as have been proven.
Then again, if one must rely on religion to teach good moral values and ideals, what the hell is the point of things like school, culture and education? Apparently those who aren't indoctrinated and snared through the nose to go to church every sunday are less than civilized? I doubt it.
