Beer - tins or bottles?

I just got to the end of a can of beer and it was nasty. I don't usually by tins but had one in the fridge. Am I the only one who can't stand beer out of a tin?

I usually get French/belgium bottles as it's the only way I can drink the stuff.

I hate it out of a can, bottles all the way. Keeps it colder in my opinion.

True - although it's not so much the temp. Beer tastes like crap anyway out of a can but when you get to the bottom... *shudder*.

Dark brown bottles is the best way..

One interesting thing is that some tomatoes are packaged in enamel lined cans to prevent them from absorbing the taste of the can.
Clearly the beer makers need to catch up to the food makers.

I've seen/used those and never really thought about the reason before. Surely it wouldn't be that hard to do on a beer can?

And of course brown bottles. Even better whn they're full of Newcastle Brown

Given the respsonse so far it makes you wonder who the hell buys tins and why? Maybe a cost thing? Are people really that hard up they'll drink any old crap?

Are you serious? How can you say beer from a can tastes the same as a glass bottle?

What happened to Keystone beer? Their big thing was plastic lined cans so they wouldn't taste like the can. It wasn't too bad for bargain beer, I remember for a time around here you could get a 6-pack for under 2 bucks. (around 1989 I think)

I've a good friend with no sense of smell which gives him an excuse I suppose but otherwise can't even imagine not being able to taste the difference. Oh well - gotta be a lot of you out there 'cause a huge number of cans are sold.

I think the taste of the can comes from the contact with it. Beer poured into a glass doesn't have the can taste to me but I'd have to have someone swap up a couple of glasses of the same brand from bottle and can at the same time and see if I tasted any difference.

I had a friend who thought my aversion to regular Budweiser was just my imagination for years until I proved it one night. He went to the store and bought a bunch of different singles without me knowing what he bought. They were all on put on ice and allowed to get very cold and during the "test" he poured them into identical glasses and kept up with which one was what. About the 4th or 5th one I kinda gagged and said, "Nasty... that's Budweiser, I'm positive." I knew I was right before he told me because he couldn't keep a straight face after he suggested I should taste the rest to be sure and I told him there was absolutely no reason to because I was right. He said he'd never doubt my taste buds again

Oddly enough I really like budweiser possibly because it's brewed a little differently from European lagers.
