While bond's may/will break the record, I don't think he'll ever be the "greatest" hr hitter.

There are a couple of things that limit it.... Namely, time and place.

The way ruth did it is classic. If bonds was back then, could he do it as ruth?

Now he weighs 230-240 (though usually listed at 228) and hits 50 homers in 350 at-bats... all at the age of 40. It doesn't take a genius to see what's going on. Oh, and he was named in the Balco affair. Just another small detail...

He was not on anabolic steroids to the degree of Sosa, Mcguire & Giambi. He knew the real deal was HGH and other synthetics. HGH makes your bones grow and muscle tissue larger and stronger. However you cannot explain away ability to hit a baseball as that has nothing to do with strengh that is skill. Look at Sosa when he does not strikeout he slams the ball but now how often is that post-juice....that is why he used cork.
