Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Oldman Quits 'Star Wars' Sequel
16 September 2004 (WENN)
Wild actor Gary Oldman has pulled out of the next Star Wars movie because he refuses to work overseas illegally. The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban star had agreed to be the voice of evil Jedi knight killer General Grievous in Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith, but quit the production because it was made outside the Screen Actor's Guild rules. Oldman's spokesman explains, "Gary was excited and looking forward to working on the film. The snag is that the movie is being made without members of the Screen Actor's Guild. It means Gary would have been working illegally overseas. Out of respect and solidarity with the other members, he could not and would not consider violating the rules of his union."

Reshoots on 'Star Wars' Film
4 August 2004 (WENN)
The latest installment in George Lucas ' blockbusting Star Wars series is undergoing reshoots in London, despite principal photography finishing last year. Natalie Portman , who again plays Queen Amidala in the forthcoming movie, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith, is flying into the British capital to help with finishing touches to the forthcoming film. But Portman is refusing to reveal why Lucas feels reshoots are necessary so long after the movie's shoot ended. She says, "I haven't been told anything so for all I know, it could be like walking, an insert shot of my hands, or a whole new storyline, so I will be as surprised as you are."

'Star Wars: Episode III' Title Revealed
26 July 2004 (WENN)
The title for the next Star Wars film has been revealed as Revenge Of The Sith. According to Starwars.Com, the moniker for the next George Lucas film in the sci-fi film series has been welcomed by fans - and was announced this weekend at a Comic convention. Lucasfilm's head of fan relations, Steve Sansweet , says, "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is." Starwars.com explains, "The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi."

'Episode III' Now Has a Name
26 July 2004 (StudioBriefing)
The sixth and final installment of George Lucas 's epic Star Wars film series will be titled Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, according to the official site for the film. In an announcement posted on the site Sunday, the filmmakers said, "The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs -- a Master and an Apprentice -- patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi." The film will end where the first film, released in 1977, began.

Oldman to Play Deadliest 'Star Wars' Villain
24 June 2004 (WENN)
British actor Gary Oldman will play the "deadliest" Star Wars villain ever in the franchise's final prequel Episode Three. The Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban star will voice character General Grievous, who is a part-alien/part-robot. And insiders say Oldman - who is considered to be one of the finest actors of his generation - was handpicked for the part by series creator George Lucas , who is a big fan of his work. A source says, "George thought Gary was the ideal choice." According to reports, Oldman's character will try and hunt down Jedi knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi in the film, which is due to hit cinemas next summer.

'Episode III' Now Has a Name, Says Magazine
20 May 2004 (StudioBriefing)
The final Star Wars movie (Episode III) will be titled Birth of the Empire, Britain's Empire magazine reported on its website today (Thursday). The publication quoted an unnamed source as saying that the highlight of the movie is a battle between Ewan McGregor , playing Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Hayden Christensen , playing Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader while maneuvering small platforms on lava as if they were surfing. Lucasfilm has not commented on the report.

Vader Unmasked
21 April 2004 (WENN)
Star Wars creator George Lucas is giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of the origins of cult character Darth Vader in a new DVD collection. Prior to the release of the final Star Wars film, Episode III, next year, Lucas is releasing the first three sci-fi films on DVD format for the first time in September - and the collection will feature Lucas revealing how Jedi warrior Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side to become Vader. Behind-the-scenes footage from Episode III, which will show Anakin turning into Vader, features Hayden Christensen dressed as the dark Lord for the first time. Lucasfilm's Jim Ward says, "We're going to see the evolution of this character and go places with Darth Vader we've never gone before. Our fans have been eagerly awaiting every morsel of Episode III as we divulge it. We're giving it to them piece by piece."

'Star Wars': The Extras
6 April 2004 (StudioBriefing)
LucasFilm has released a list of "extras" that it plans to include in the upcoming four-disc box set of the original Star Wars trilogy. They include a 2 1/2-hour documentary about George Lucas 's "vision" for the films, another half-hour documentary about how the characters were developed, another 20-minute documentary about the special effects used in the films, a preview of Episode III, hundreds of still photos, posters, and other artwork, and "Star Wars Battlefront" -- a computer game demo. Meanwhile, LucasFilm on Monday confirmed reports that Episode III will be released domestically on Thursday, May 19, 2005, with a "near-simultaneous release around the world."

An Official Clue About 'Episode III'
23 March 2004 (StudioBriefing)
The official Star Wars website (www.starwars.com) has provided the first authorized clues about the content of Episode III, scheduled for release next year. LucasFilm has posted a teaser that summarizes the story line. It reads: "After three long years of relentless fighting, the Clone Wars are nearly at an end. The Jedi Council dispatches Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring the deadly leader of the Separatist droid army to justice. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine has grown in power. His sweeping political changes transform the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire. To his closest ally, Anakin Skywalker, he reveals the true nature of power and the promised secrets of the Force in an attempt to lure him to the dark side."

Tape Taken on Set of New 'Star Wars' Post on Internet
26 January 2004 (StudioBriefing)
Despite rigorous efforts by the George Lucas organization to prevent any leaks from the set of the Star Wars: Episode III, a crude 2-minute, 37-second clip from the Australian set has popped up online. It reportedly includes a shot of Hayden Christensen in his Darth Vader costume. One fan who watched it said on the Slashdot.org website that it contains no spoilers and that "the video is choppy and low quality (camcorder pointed at a monitor) and hard to watch."

Portman Reveals 'Awesome' 'Star Wars' Scene
7 January 2004 (WENN)
Natalie Portman is hoping fans will be satisfied with the final Star Wars film - because it contains some "awesome" action. Portman, who plays Queen Padme Amidala in the sci-fi prequel trilogy, admits she's not sure whether the last installment will be "worth it". Creator George Lucas has come under fire from disappointed fans who argue the new offerings do not match up to his classic original trilogy - but Portman insists the cast and crew have done their very best. She says, "I saw a pretty amazing fight scene between Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen . It's pretty sick. "They were thinking of having stuntmen do it, but they were better than the stuntmen. It's pretty awesome. "Is it gonna be worth it? We just shot it and we worked really hard. I think all of us were trying to make it as good as possible. "It was our last chance to sort of, you know, do something with it. So, I'm hoping. But they work on it for two years after we finish shooting, putting on the special effects and all that stuff."

Spoilers From Padme?
7 January 2004 (StudioBriefing)
Natalie Portman , who stars as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequels, has disclosed that the upcoming Episode III will include "a pretty amazing fight scene" between Ewan McGregor , who plays Obi Wan Kenobi in the prequels, and Hayden Christensen , who portrays Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in them. In an interview with MTV.com, Portman also disclosed that the two actors perform the scene without the aid of stuntmen and that "it's pretty sick." She did not elaborate. The film is set to open on May 25, 2005, the 28th anniversary of the original's premiere.

Original 'Star Wars' Episodes To Debut on DVD Next Year
7 November 2003 (StudioBriefing)
Reports began circulating widely on the Internet Thursday that Lucasfilm will release the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes 4, 5, & 6) on DVD next September. At the same time, numerous websites were disclosing that they had received word from participants in a Lucasfilm conference at San Francisco's Presidio that they had been told the trailer for the latest -- and final -- episode of Star Wars will appear in theaters in January 2005, prior to a May theatrical release and a November home-video release.

'Star Wars: Episode III' Wraps
30 September 2003 (WENN)
Shooting on the eagerly awaited movie prequel Star Wars: Episode III has finally wrapped - but studio bosses warn the film's a long way off completion. Director George Lucas imposed tight security measures on the Australian set in an effort to keep the storyline a secret, but producer Rick McCallum insists cinema-goers still have a long wait before discovering how main character Anakin Skywalker turns into the villainous Darth Vader. He says, "Shooting the film is only a small part of the whole process. George is enthusiastic about getting back to the Ranch and starting the next component. This will enable him to start thinking about what he needs to pick up when we shoot in March 2004. For George and I, this is only the mid-way point. We still have eighteen months to get through."

'Mad Max' Sequel Appears Dead
23 September 2003 (StudioBriefing)
Prospects of Mel Gibson returning to the screen in his Mad Max persona faded today (Tuesday) when Daily Variety reported that the actor is in talks with Warner Bros. to star in Under and Alone, about an ATF undercover agent who infiltrated a motorcycle gang. Gibson had originally intended to shoot Mad Max: Fury Road in the southern Africa country of Namibia in May but halted preproduction citing security concerns following the outbreak of war with Iraq. Production offices in Swakopmund were shut down, dozens of contracts and leases for homes, apartments, car rentals, and caterers were canceled, and sets built for the $100-million movie were warehoused. Gibson later plunged into post-production of his biblical film The Passion, seemingly snuffing out the fire on the back burner, where the Mad Max feature had been placed. It had been reported earlier that Gibson decided to shoot the film in Namibia because George Lucas had booked all available studio space at Fox Studios in Australia to shoot Star Wars: Episode 3. Lucas completed principal production there last week.

Lucas Completes Filming Final 'Star Wars' Episode
22 September 2003 (StudioBriefing)
George Lucas completed principal photography of Star Wars: Episode 3 at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia, Thursday and embarked on 18 months of post-production, the Australian Associated Press reported over the weekend. (A news release from Lucasfilm said that the shooting wrapped on Wednesday and claimed production was five days ahead of schedule. It quoted producer Rick McCallum as saying that "It's almost unheard of for a major motion picture to come in under schedule.") A photo of Anakin Skywalker, played by Hayden Christensen , on his way to becoming Darth Vader, sporting a '70's-style blonde mane, eyes rolled upwards, was also released, causing numerous fansites to take note of how he appears to resemble Luke Skywalker, played in the original 1977 film (A New Hope) by Mark Hamill . The Sydney Daily Telegraph commented that "the prescient casting of Christensen ensured a very believable father and son would work across three decades."

Spoiler Alert: Crucial 'Star Wars' Battle Scene Near Shooting
2 September 2003 (WENN)
Filming on George Lucas ' hugely anticipated Star Wars: Episode III is approaching a crucial stage - the battle between Obi-wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Fans of the George Lucas flicks are desperate to see the scene in which Obi-Wan cuts off Skywalker's leg, leading to Anakin becoming the evil Darth Vader. According to set insiders the sequence will be shot next week.

McCallum Reveals "Spoilers" for 'Star Wars: Episode 3'
19 August 2003 (StudioBriefing)
Presumably unconcerned that releasing tidbits of information about the plot of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 3 will discourage fans from seeing it, producer Rick McCallum has revealed a number of what the online community calls "spoilers" during a chat with subscribers to the Star Wars: Hyperspace website. Among them: that the film will feature an underwater duel between Ewan McGregor and droids; a scene in which Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader; the meaning of the Darth Vader name (David Prowse , who played Vader in the original trilogy, will not return); there'll probably be a downbeat ending. Meanwhile, the British website itv.com is revealing that Christopher Lee , who plays Count Dooku, dies ten minutes into the opening of the new film. Britain's Guardian newspaper, which published details of the McCallum and ITV stories in today's (Tuesday) editions, commented afterwards, "Watch this space to have the experience of watching the film even more comprehensively ruined over the coming 12 months."

Star Wars III: Attack of the Mullets
10 July 2003 (WENN)
Star Wars movie-maker George Lucas is insisting all the characters in the new sci-fi sequel sport shaggy seventies-style haircuts - so they look like the stars of the original films. Star Wars: Episode III actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen , currently shooting the final installment on set in New South Wales, Australia, are showing off unfashionable "mullet" hairdos - because they were trendy when the first Star Wars film was made in 1977. An onset source explains, "The idea is that it will lead seamlessly on to the original Star Wars movie, starring Harrison Ford , Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill , which was filmed in the Seventies and had certain hallmarks of that era. It's a bid for continuity. They are trying to capture the shaggy look that was popular then."

'Star Wars' Shooting Starts
1 July 2003 (WENN)
Filming for the last ever Star Wars movie started on Monday - just one week after producer George Lucas put the finishing touches to the script. Shooting will take place in Sydney, Australia as well as Italy and Switzerland - and Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor has already lined himself up a luxury apartment in Sydney for the duration of the Antipodean shoots. The final installment in the series will see Peter Mayhew reprise his role as hairy Chewbacca - a part he has not played since Return Of The Jedi in 1983.

Jackson: I Want An Explosive Exit
27 June 2003 (WENN)
Star Wars star Samuel L. Jackson is determined to die in a spectacular way in the final prequel Episode III. The super cool star hopes creator George Lucas has penned a dramatic finale for his character Mace Windu when he jets off to Australia to begin filming next month. He says, "I'm just going to die, you know? I'm basically going down there hoping that I'm going to have this really awesome lightsaber battle with somebody that takes me out in the proper way. You know, the way a Jedi of my status deserves to be taken out." And Jackson relishes the chance to get to grips with the fabled lightsaber. He says, "I like the fighting sequences the best. They're good fun to prepare for and also good fun to shoot. It's one of the rare instances in the Star Wars movies when you're working with someone else, because you can't really swordfight on your own. However, most of the other scenes seem to be played into midair with computer-generated characters." Jackson remains convinced that starring in the oft-derided prequels was a positive step. He says, "Mace is kind of evolving for me. And it's been a wonderful experience being able to be in Star Wars, first of all because I was a huge fan. I used to sit around and wonder how you got into something like that and how great it would be to be in it. Fortunately for me, somebody must have heard me and I'm in it!"

'Star Wars' Title Riddle
26 June 2003 (WENN)
The final prequel in the Star Wars franchise will be entitled Episode III: An Empire Divided, according to reports on the internet. Internet critic Harry Knowles , of fabled film website Ain't It Cool News, received a tip off from an Australian contact who spotted an article in a local newspaper, in which a local casting agency talked about recruiting for the film. Correspondent Clinton Kardi noted the casting agency mentioned the title of the new movie, which will begin shooting in Australia shortly, as they talked to the journalist - but Lucasfilm has yet to confirm if the report is true. Frenzied speculation has surrounded the eagerly-awaited film - due for release in 2005 - which will be the last of the legendary Star Wars films from creator George Lucas .

To Be Vader Or Not To Be Vader
29 April 2003 (WENN)
Star Wars creator George Lucas is leaving fans in the dark as to whether Darth Vader will feature at the end of Episode III. The bearded filmmaker has refused to reveal how the third installment of the beloved franchise will end - and even star Hayden Christensen has little idea. When asked if he would be donning the legendary black armor, Christensen says, "No, not as far as I know. It's not in the story if we begin from where we left off." And Christensen also doubts they'll be any mask wearing or asthmatic breathing either. He adds, "None of that, as far as I know. But that's very little. George Lucas is notorious, he keeps it all very secretive." However, considering James Earl Jones who voiced the original Vader has been booked to appear at the end of the movie, the dark cloaked one may well make his welcome return.

Chewie Is Bacca
25 April 2003 (WENN)
Star Wars fans are rejoicing after George Lucas decided to resurrect beloved character Chewbacca in Episode III. The Wookie, played in the original trilogy by Peter Mayhew , will be part of the action in the last of the prequels - due to hit screens in 2005. And Mayhew - a regular at fan conventions - will reprise his role as Han Solo's trusty sidekick. Mayhew says, "I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca. I think his re-appearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially for Wookie fans."

Lucas Says He's Planning on Becoming a "Complete Failure"
15 January 2003 (StudioBriefing)
George Lucas has said that once he winds up the Star Wars movies next year, he intends to make "more personal" films that he doubts will be box-office successes. "I'm going to go from complete success to complete failure," he told Fox.com's Roger Friedman . "I'm going to make a bunch of movies like THX," he said, referring to the 15-minute sci-fi film that he made while a student at the University of Southern California that brought him to the attention of Hollywood. "If people don't like it, too bad," he said, predicting, "There won't be any big dramas or Oscars." He did not specify what sort of film he has in mind.

James Earl Jones Back as Vader
14 October 2002 (WENN)
The voice of Darth Vader is back - actor James Earl Jones will recreate the breathy tones of the supervillain in George Lucas ' sixth Star Wars movie which will go before cameras next year. Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, who becomes Vader in the film, but his voice will be replaced with that of James Earl Jones . Jones created a storm in the original Star Wars trilogy when his voice was used to replace that of British actor Dave Prowse , who played the evil Vader.

James Earl Jones To Become Darth Vader's Voice Again
7 October 2002 (StudioBriefing)
James Earl Jones has told the Toronto Sun that he has signed to become the voice of Darth Vader again for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode III. The next -- and final -- prequel will reportedly tell about Anakin Skywalker's transition to the evil half-man/half-robot who rallies the Dark Side. Jones said that producer/writer/director George Lucas told him: "When Anakin goes bionic -- that will be in the last five minutes of Episode 3 -- they will hear you."

Christensen Will Don Darth Vader Suit
16 July 2002 (WENN)
Fans of Hayden Christensen will have to do without his hunky features in the new Star Wars installment - he will be wearing the body suit and mask of the evil Darth Vader. A source on the Australian Fox Studios set, where Lucasfilm representatives reportedly visited last week, reports that the new movie, Episode III, will begin filming next summer, with Boba Fett actor Daniel Logan told to keep the months of July and August free. In addition to Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, donning Vader's famous black suit, the source, quoted on the Ain't It Cool News website, reports that casting director Robin Gurland met with British stars Samantha Morton , Robert Carlyle and Christopher Eccleston in London earlier this month. Jonathan Hales will reportedly return as co-writer, as will the CGI version of cult character Yoda - and mountains and caves around Australia have been touted as possible locations for the movie.

McGregor To Quit Smoking for Lucas
3 July 2002 (WENN)
Scottish hunk Ewan McGregor is doing a favor for his pal and director George Lucas - he's quitting smoking. The Trainspotting star plans to end his nicotine addiction before he begins filming Star Wars: Episode III next year. Ewan says, "George says it's a terrible and unhealthy habit. He's right and I've said I'll kick it before we work together again."

Original Vader Aims To Return
28 May 2002 (WENN)
Despite arthritis, crutches and one useless arm, the man who played the original Darth Vader is determined to make his mark on the final Star Wars film. Life-long body builder David Prowse , 66, donned the famous black helmet for George Lucas ' first three episodes, and is eager to return for the historic final installment, which begins shooting next year. He says, "I still definitely want the part again. I'm going to have an operation on my hip in September and then I'm planning to go back to the gym. I should be fit and ready by next year. I have such a large following that if George Lucas offered the part to someone else, I'm sure fans would boycott the film." And Prowse is convinced he is in with a chance. Hayden Christensen , who plays Darth's Jedi alter ego Anakin Skywalker, is nearly one foot shorter than Prowse was as Vader.

Christensen Unsure If He'll Get To Wear Vader Costume
15 May 2002 (WENN)
Hayden Christensen is still waiting to hear if he'll get to wear Darth Vader's famous black costume in the third Star Wars film. The Canadian actor plays Anakin Skywalker in Attack Of The Clones, which offers glimmers of the character's eventual transformation into the villainous Vader. But Christensen says creator George Lucas has not told him how far the transformation will go in Episode III. He says, "I nag him every now and then about whether or not I'll get to wear the Darth Vader outfit, and he gives me a little wink- wink, nudge-nudge, that maybe I will." The actor has managed to try on Vader's helmet, just for fun, at Lucas' Skywalker Ranch. Christensen, 21, reveals, "Last time I was here, I went up to the archives and got shown around, and there was the dark helm. I asked if I could put it on and get a picture, which is pretty funny, because I'm wearing this gray track suit and had this enormous helmet on which is just completely disproportionate." Christensen has tried to pry more details about the next film out of Lucas, who begins shooting the third and final prequel next summer for release in 2005.

Jackman In Star Wars III?
9 May 2002 (WENN)
George Lucas has reportedly approached Australian actor Hugh Jackman to star in third Star Wars prequel. Fans who attended the "Star Wars: Celebration" convention in Indiana claimed they overheard producer Rick McCallum discussing the cast for Episode III. X-Men star Jackman is said to be considering a villainous role in the forthcoming movie, which is set to be released in 2005.

Only 19 Theaters To Project Episode II Digitally
30 April 2002 (StudioBriefing)
Despite George Lucas 's best efforts to push digital projection, only 19 theaters will be showing his Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones using digital projectors when it opens on May 16, Wired magazine reported on its website Monday. The 19 are: Harkins Arrowhead Cinemas 18 (Peoria, AZ); AMC Media Center 6 (Burbank, CA); Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 Megaplex (Irvine, CA); El Capitan Theatre (Los Angeles, CA); Loews Century Plaza (Los Angeles, CA); AMC Mission Valley 20 (San Diego, CA); AMC 1000 Van Ness (San Francisco, CA); AMC Pleasure Island 24 (Lake Buena Vista, FL); AMC South Barrington 30 (South Barrington, IL); AMC Studio 30 (Olathe, KS); General Cinema Framingham 16 (Framingham, MA); Show Case Cinemas Randolph (Randolph, MA); Edgewater Multiplex Cinemas (Edgewater, NJ); AMC Empire 25 Theatres (New York); Clearview Ziegfeld Theatre (New York); Loews Cineplex E-Walk (New York); Cinemark at Valley View (Valley View, OH); Showcase Cinemas Springdale (Springdale, OH); Cinemark at Legacy (Plano, TX). Lucas has said that no theater will be allowed to show Episode III unless it is equipped with digital projectors.

Time Writers Cheer Episode II
22 April 2002 (StudioBriefing)
Time magazine writers Richard Corliss and Jess Cagle, who have seen a rough-cut of Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones, which opens May 16, say that the new film marks a considerable advance over Episode I -- The Phantom Menace. "Clones seems poised to get the series back on track -- and provide an exhilarating two hours of serious fun," they write in the current issue. Their article also includes an interview with George Lucas in which the director expresses concern about whether audiences will accept what he has in mind for Episode III: "The next film is really dark," Lucas says. "The issue is, Will people stand for it? But I've got to tell the story. And when I finish it, I'll be 60. I've got a lot of things I want to do with my life other than more of this. I've got a bunch of TV shows that I want to do. I've got a half-dozen movies that have stayed in my brain the past 30 years. Some of them are extremely uncommercial; I may not even get them released. I'm in a position now where I can say, I'm gonna make this movie because I wanna see this movie. We'll have a couple of screenings somewhere and call it a day. Or just put it directly on DVD or on the Independent Film Channel."

Will Willy Ever Be Free?
29 March 2002 (StudioBriefing)
Cellular-phone pioneer Craig McCaw, who has contributed $10 million to date to a thus-far unsuccessful effort to introduce Free Willy star Keiko back to his ocean roots, has announced he is pulling out of the project. McCaw told Britain's Guardian newspaper through a spokesman, "After two years of solid attempt, if it hasn't happened yet, it's going to become a long-term project that should be funded by an animal-care organization."

CORRECTION: In Thursday's edition, we erroneously stated that Star Wars: Episode III is scheduled to be released in 2003. It is due to start production in 2003 and to be released in 2005.

Jackson Reveals Jedi Fate
28 March 2002 (WENN)
Samuel L. Jackson has revealed the fate of the Jedi in the third Star Wars prequel. All the Jedi, Jackson claims, will die in Episode 3, including himself. Jackson, who plays Mace Windu, says, "All the Jedi die in Episode 3 during the Clone Wars. I told George Lucas I didn't mind dying, I just didn't want to go out like some punk." The 53-year-old continues, "George said that was fine and he'd see what he could do about a fitting death scene for Mace."

Jackson On Episode III. A "Spoiler?"
28 March 2002 (StudioBriefing)
[POSSIBLE ****SPOILER**** BELOW]

Appearing to defy the nondisclosure pledge that George Lucas requires of anyone connected with his films, Samuel L. Jackson has revealed that in Star Wars: Episode III, due to be released next year, all of the Jedi are wiped out. "I told George I didn't mind dying," Jackson told the Calgary Sun, "I just didn't want to go out like some punk. George said that was fine and he'd see what he could do about a fitting death scene." Jackson also said that Lucas probably also okayed the screening of Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones for Harry Knowles , who has posted a review on his website [http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com]. "I think it's pretty safe to say George knew the screening was going to happen. Harry has a huge website that kids hit all the time, and they're the audience for Star Wars," Jackson said.

Lucas: Star Wars III Will Be The Last

Director George Lucas has decided Episode III will be the last Star Wars film in the series. The legendary movie maker has just finished making Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, starring Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor , which hits screens next year. He says, "I can guarantee I will definitely give up after Episode Three in 2005." The Californian-born director originally hoped to make nine films, but at 57 years old it will take him a long time to get through them all. Lucas plans to make a fourth Indiana Jones movie once Episode III is finished.

Count Dracula Will Be Count Dooku
1 March 2001 (StudioBriefing)
George Lucas has revealed that onetime horror film star Christopher Lee will play a character named Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II. In an introduction to Christopher Lee: the Authorized Screen History by Jonathan Rigby , Lucas writes: "When it was time to cast the role of Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II my casting director suggested Christopher Lee and I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. I knew that I needed someone who could convey evil. But in addition, I needed someone to bring stature, strength and wisdom to the role. His villainous resume speaks for itself." Lee himself directed a writer for Britain's Empire magazine to the book after explaining that he himself was bound by a confidentiality agreement not to discuss his role in the movie. "If George has revealed [the name of the character], that's where I leave it, " Lee remarked. "I don't want to get into trouble with George, because there's [Episode III], don't forget."

Smits A Star Wars Recruit, After All
13 July 2000 (StudioBriefing)
One month after Jimmy Smits ' representatives had emphatically denied a report that originally appeared on the Coming Attractions Web site (http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/main.html) that the former NYPD Blue star had been cast in Star Wars: Episode II (2002), Lucasfilm announced on Wednesday that Smits had indeed been signed to appear in the film. Smits will portray Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan, Princess Leia's foster father, the studio said. In a news release, casting director Robin Gurland said, "Id thought of Jimmy for the role before George Lucas had even confirmed the character's appearance. Then, completely independently, his agents let me know that he would love to be involved." Coming Attractions on Wednesday quoted its source as saying that Smits' character will merely be introduced in the film and that his role will be "significantly expanded" in Episode III.

Representatives of Jimmy Smits have denied a rumor, originally posted on the Coming Attractions Internet site, that the NYPD Blue actor has been cast in Star Wars: Episode 2 and Episode 3.

Smits Heading For Star Wars?
1 June 2000 (StudioBriefing)
A report that NYPD Blue star Jimmy Smits has been cast as a new Star Wars character has been posted on the Coming Attractions Internet site, a long-running movie Web site that has sometimes scooped rivals. According to the report ("We trust our source implicitly"), Smits will play "almost a cameo role" in Episode Two, but his part will be expanded in Episode Three.

New Anakin Skywalker Thanks Natalie Portman For Part
16 May 2000 (WENN)
Hayden Christensen is thanking his sizzling on-screen chemistry with Natalie Portman for his shock casting in the next two STAR WARS movies. The little-known Canadian actor beat 441 other candidates to bag the coveted role in the two remaining Star Wars prequels, EPISODES II and III. And the 19-year-old star believes his chemistry with Portman won him the role because Episode II centers on the steamy relationship between his character ANAKIN SKYWALKER and her QUEEN AMIDALA. Christensen says, "The auditions became all about meeting Natalie. It was just the thrill of shooting with her. I believe I have chemistry with her and that is key to my getting the part."

Jackson: I Want An Explosive Exit

What a fucking loser !.. He probably wants GL to change the title to STARWARS: Episode III... "The death of Samuel"

Can anybody say 'EGO' !
