That's one of the things I liked about Alberta.. they have a 0 tolerance policy for driving drunk.. First offense means you loose your license, period. Once those laws were brought into effect, drinking and driving numbers dropped drastically in the province. Most places need the same policy.

I don't think the guy will get off at all. He can face up to life in prison for involuntary or other man slaughter. And if it's the guys second offence DUI, he will get life.

I had a DUI in 2001 and luckily no one was hurt, I just got pulled over for speeding. But I learned a lot for the next 6 months in the DUI classes and AA meetings that the court makes you attend.

I quit drinking about 3 - 4 months ago finally and feel happy about it.
