Critics: Priest Up for Sainthood a Sinner

Those who know California history know what a rat bastard Father Serra was, and the Vatican wants to make this sick fuck a saint?! The first article doesn't even begin to describe what a major league prick Serra was, but the second one does.

Critics: Priest Up for Sainthood a Sinner

Junipero Serra

FYI, every saint was a sinner . . . . everyone has commited a sin at some point.

If you are going to discuss religion at least have a clue what you are talking about

That being said, I don't think he qualifies.

1. Pull your head out of your ass and don't make such assumptions.

2. READ the articles, both of them. Most people don't make slaves of others and force conversions upon penalty of torture or death.

What's your point? This guy was an asshole and the church of today, not the old church, is talking about making this asshole a saint.

True.

Isn't it Jesus that said:

" Who has not sinned throw the first stone " ....

Now, if FletchXXX or Labret were around, they could tell you which page it is on....

No argument from me, but I don't think the church ought to take an asshole like Serra and make him a saint. The guy did so little good and so much harm. Why they would even consider him for sainthood is beyond me.

My point is that it doesn't matter how he behaved. If he behaved in a manner that benefited the church then by all means, submit him for saint hood.

There are still criteria that he has to meet ( three miracles and other stuff) before they can take it to the next step.

He could even be beatififed (spelling...) for all I care. That doesn't mean he'll ever become a saint.

don't make such assumptions? give me a break, at least I have some clue as to the teachings of the Catholic Church, and as far as they are concerned (and they are the ones that make the rules as far as saints go) the only two people that were not sinners were Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary

and not sure what those two articles are going to tell me that I don't already know . . . I should point out that I was raised Catholic, and I am a native Californian, so I am well aware of Serra.. . . which is why I said I don't think he qualifies . . . . I never heard of him performing any miracles, and he sure wasn't a martyr . . . people are just trying to get the first saint from California, I would have a better chance

exactly, it is a long road from beatification to canonization
