NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Coastal residents along the Gulf of Mexico were beginning to evacuate Tuesday, trying to evade Hurricane Ivan, a dangerous Category 4 storm projected to hit from the Florida Panhandle to the Texas-Louisiana border sometime early Thursday.

Things are actually looking very good. It may scrape the panhandle but that's about it. It was projected earier on to be more of a direct hit.

Greetings from ground zero! I'm boarded up. Got food, batteries, sandbags, etc. It's like a ghost-town. I-65 is northbound only. First time they've ever tried that shit before. I'll get pics up in a sec. Got alot of video too. I'll try and keep updates until they kill the power. Good luck fellow gulf coast residents! There's a 20+ foot swell due south of us.

Ah, and it's no where near being over. New Tropical Storm Jeanne expected to intensify to hurricane status in the next 24. However, this one seems to be taking a much more easterly route and my well just skim the eastern coast of Florida instead of hitting the state head on.

This means that folks in the Carolinas need to be watching this one; its track will lead it to slam into South Carolina's southern shoreline somewhere between Tuesday and Wednesday.

**Note: This is just the model I'm reading. The numbers are ugly, but honestly, I don't think it's going to be huge. Will update as I know more.**

It's still calm here. I'm guessing around 4-5 o' clock we'll be seeing hard wind and rain.
