Louisiana to Florida, here comes Hurricane Ivan (pix)
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Coastal residents along the Gulf of Mexico were beginning to evacuate Tuesday, trying to evade Hurricane Ivan, a dangerous Category 4 storm projected to hit from the Florida Panhandle to the Texas-Louisiana border sometime early Thursday.

>>HighRes<< Heart goes out to all those effected. |
Greetings from ground zero! I'm boarded up. Got food, batteries, sandbags, etc. It's like a ghost-town. I-65 is northbound only. First time they've ever tried that shit before. I'll get pics up in a sec. Got alot of video too. I'll try and keep updates until they kill the power. Good luck fellow gulf coast residents! There's a 20+ foot swell due south of us. :helpme

YOU STAY SAFE OR I WILL KICK YOUR ASS. Seriously, all you had to do was call me and you and your beautiful lady would have had a safe, (if somewhat rural), place to stay. Now all I can do is watch and wait and hope. Get in touch as soon as you can after this thing blows over to let me know you're safe, please. 931-284-9362 |

Ah, and it's no where near being over. New Tropical Storm Jeanne expected to intensify to hurricane status in the next 24. However, this one seems to be taking a much more easterly route and my well just skim the eastern coast of Florida instead of hitting the state head on.
This means that folks in the Carolinas need to be watching this one; its track will lead it to slam into South Carolina's southern shoreline somewhere between Tuesday and Wednesday. **Note: This is just the model I'm reading. The numbers are ugly, but honestly, I don't think it's going to be huge. Will update as I know more.** |

Was at the gulf 3 minutes ago (had to run to the store)
Normally smooth as glass, now we are getting 12 foot waves! No wind yet to speak of...but it's coming. Winds at my place are not supposed to go over 70mph, so I'm sticking it out here. Mandatory evacuation is for pussies (lol) |

It's about 150 miles due south. Getting some strong gusts. Feeling the first bands. Pensacola is under a tornado warning already. Anyone in New Orleans have anything to report?
