Would I be correct in saying that your grandfather knows that his meeting with God is near and the burning of his life Bible is merely a step in becoming one with God?

Or am I totally off-base? I don't know if I quite understand.

Great pics, with an even better story. Would you be opposed to talking about Burning Man more at a show or something? I'm curious and would like to hear more from someone who sounds like they know the full deal of it.

The camera is a Canon G-5. Love it.

The temple is different each year. The one in the pics is burned and gone forever. The overall theme of Burning Man is that everything is transitory. Many people have been shocked that I burned my grandpa's bible. But he, more than most, understands the transitory nature of life.

Thanks for the thoughts. Truly.

I still have a few more photos to post and an overview of the event that I'm hoping to post on Amelia and Forrest's BlueBlood.net.

JM (or anyone) I love talking about Burning Man...looking forward to it.

p.s. for the record, none of these guys are gay. :)

Thanks so much for sharing your images and story, Halcyon.

I went to Burning Man just once, six years ago.

All I can say is there are singular places and moments in all our lives, when that which has been forever trying to form in our mind's eye gathers verifiable and undeniable solidity. Simply for having seen and touched, we are never the same after that.

It happened to me there.

I wish I were able to say "Go to Burning Man..." to anyone in need of a spiritual epiphany, and believe they would actually FIND there, as I FOUND. But I know better than to try to "prescribe" a miracle of enlightenment for anyone.

I will say this, though: "If you EVER find yourself in the company of a person who seems to be more than considering the idea of going to Burning Man, and more than considering the idea of YOU going with them, at a time when you, yourself, are in a place of sufficient whimsy, detachment from responsibility, and preparedness for change in your OWN life to possibly go -- then fucking GO!"

LMAO you tell them dude! Nice pics thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you had such a good time.
Why is it that some people are so obsessed with who is gay and calling others gay like it is an insult? I think the people who are so worried about who is gay and who isn?t just aren?t getting enough.

Hal, drop me a email so we can hook up for a drink.

i think hal hit the nail on the head. i think those people that find it necessary to LABEL are the ones with problems - whether they're straigh or gay. most animals are bi - and love regarless of gender or labels. -it's more natural and just feels better. sure they may lean towards one or the other for most of their life -but they're OPEN to the idea of one or the other if it's the right person.

there's nothing worse or more disgusting to me then a closed mind

I'd be happy to talk more. That was my 7th year and it really has become a huge part of my daily life.

(If you want more info now, burningman.com is the official site and www.lustmonkey.com/taleindex.htm has more of my reflections)

Pretty much.
He feels that he was loaned this body.
So I think it is all just a part of his acceptance of the transitory nature of a lifetime. Letting go of anything that anchors him to this life as he further steps towards his rejoining with the creator.

**But he would be happy to answer you himself in email. I don't want to post his email (or URL) here, but I'd be happy to pass it on to anyone if you email me: [email protected]

Hal, your photos are fabulous, and honey, you are HOT! I love a man with confidence, and some piercings and makeup are always extra yummy!

I remember stumbling across the Burning Man website the first year they had one, and I had wanted to go...

however... here I am, never having gone yet. I think next year it's a plan.

Awesome pics and story Halcyon. I've never been to Burning Man, even though I've been to over 300 raves. Every year I miss it and every time I see new pics I regret not going.

Not sure about posting them on this board though. Trying to discuss Burning Man here is like trying to smell roses through a heap of fertilizer.

Hal, these pics are very beautiful and inspiring. Although I can't say that I truly understand Burning Man, it does appear to be very interesting and emotional. Being able to let go of material things and all of the baggage they carry with them is extremely difficult for most people. I would be interested in going one time to see and experience the event.

BTW, I admire the fact that you are so comfortable with yourself that you can proudly wear pink. I wish I had that kind of courage.

looks like a scene from mad max 2
