Do you think this is a good advertising trick?

"Why would we pay for this ad if our product didn't work/wasn't worth it?"

do you think this will catch the interest of the surfer/reader?

I like it, although the logic is a bit wrong, the fact that you got money to pay for the ad doesn't mean the product works, it just means that you can sell it...but that's hairsplitting, on first sight it catches attention.

actually you would scare me away.
if it is so good why do you need the ad, word of mouth should be enough.

of course, but this is a situation in which you are purchasing an add, and don't want to only rely on word of mouth to advertise your product

what would you consider to be "trusted"?

a TV celebrity? or a doctor with 3 PHDs?

I wouldn't use it..

If you think about it, it doesn't make any sence!

But then again, how many people really think?

For sure, maybe even add the price you paid for the ad (some exaggeration won't hurt), if Joe Surfer reads that you paid 5000$, it becomes more impressive

I will just say that all you need to do is, tell your surfers what they want to hear. Perhaps you could approach with two banners displaying two different messages, then analyse the stats

wouldn't it be amazing if we had marketing techniques mastered?
not only the techniques, but to know exactly what works and what doesn't, and what works better than something else...

experience baby! keep on doing it, you'll get the hang of it

Two of many ways to target an audience is
Personel eg - You are The First To Know, You deserve more
Eye catching - This is what I call ADVERTISING, Start with $7 and Earn THOUSANDS

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. You would have to be pretty thick to see that as a sign that it was a good product.
