girls who stay free agents do make more money as long as they are popular and relatively fresh to the biz. even more than 20k per month - 30k, one hot asian chick i know of made 36 grand the month before she signed a contract, they can book a hot new girl twice a day 7 days a week, the agents don't care about the girl, they burn them out. When Keri Sable hit the scene we put in a call immediately to book her, she was already booked solid for a month - then we shot her and the next booking we could get was another month.

contract girls get some other fringe benefits but i guess the reason they do it is that they only have to do 6-10 movies a year, they're shooting with top directors on professional sets with makeup and hair people instead of hotel rooms with unknown shooters and talent, they get treated like little movie starlets.

LA Times did an investigative piece on VIVID Video and got their hands on some VIVID girls contracts - on the low end they were lower than 60k a year - like 35-40k - i'm sure there are other sources of income VIVID gets them but the base contracts are much less than most people think they are.

how does someone go into that line of business? if they have only PG-13 modeling experience, meaning no nudity? Does these girls have to have a portfolio in nude? I am thinking about going into something like this.
