That is the way it works. Each state gets electoral votes based upon their population. California is the most important state to win. They have more electoral votes than anyone else. The reason why there is an electoral college is so that when a President wins by a slim margin it looks like he won by a lot. So lets say that he wins 52% of the votes in all 50 states. The President then receives 100% of the electoral votes making him look like an amazing winner. Its just to make him look like he won by more than he did so he looks really official. Its all bullshit of course.

the problem with EC is that 51% of california could vote republican and 49% democrat but most 54 EC points are going to the republicans and half of the peoples vote were worth shit.
