Think Geek sucks ass, don't buy from them

What a fucking debacle. Apparently those people don't even know how to address a package. It was shipped through DHL at home which goes DHL->post office->final destination. The package should have been here for my birthday on the first but it wasn't. After several phone calls, we found out that the package had been delivered to the local post office before my birthday even got here. ThinkGeek tells us that we need to wait, anyway, and call them back this week if the package still has not arrived. We thought this was a little odd since the post office the package was delivered to is literally one mile from the package's final destination. ThinkGeek didn't care and didn't want to hear about it.

Anyway, the shipping receipt doesn't show the full address, only the city, state and zip. We asked ThinkGeek about this and they swore up and down that the package was properly addressed and everything was cool and they wouldn't do anything until we waited some arbitrary number of days. Hoping we could just go pick the item up and avoid any more trouble, we waited about a week (no sign of the package of course) then went to the post office. The guy at the post office digs up the information and tells us that the package had no address and was returned last Tuesday. Those of you who did a little quick math already realize that the package went back the day before my birthday. We called DHL and they said that if the package was returned by the post office, it should already be on its way back to ThinkGeek. It took only a few days for the package to get here and it was returned over a week ago but ThinkGeek says they don't have it and expects us to wait even longer before they send a new item. So, we KNOW that the item arrived, we KNOW the item had no address on it, we KNOW the item was returned. This item is 100% for certain not going to arrive. This item has been returned. ThinkGeek doesn't give a shit, though. They won't lift a finger until their arbitrary deadline has passed. This is not a case of slow delivery, the package is not coming. This is pretty shitty customer service in my opinion and that goes double when it seems to me that there is a very good chance the package has already made its way back to ThinkGeek.

Basically, ThinkGeek is doing nothing to help solve the problem. They decided it's not a problem until Thursday and by george, they're sticking to that no matter WHAT the facts of the case.

They have a ton of really cool stuff on their site and I definitely could have seen myself dropping a lot of dough there but I don't think I'll every spend so much as another nickle with them.

You paid for item.
You never received item.
They can't prove you did.

Do the chargeback, it puts the burden on them.
Some companies actually pay attention when it happens

It's the cheaper equivalent to "you'll here from my lawyer"
but more effective than "can I speak to your manager"

I had a similar problem but with a courier company. Someone at that company scribbled out the (correct) street name on the address label and wrote in another similar sounding one. They then dumped it at the local post office at the end of the day since that street name didn't exist. (How is the PO supposed to help when a street doesn't exist...?) When I rang the couriers up to find out where the parcel was I said "OK, leave it at the post office, I am 2 mins drive away, I'll pick it up tomorrow..."

I go to the PO the next day and of course they've ignored my instructions: they have picked it up again and it's back on the courier truck. I ended up picking it up from their depot that night. They never called me back to tell me why the address was changed.

The stupid thing is that the warehouse it was shipped from is only about a 30 min round trip. I should have just picked it up from there, instead of waiting 3 days, driving for about 50 mins, and on top of that paying the courier's fee for a package they didn't deliver!

Spaceace, you should be asking the same question I did: if there was a problem with delivery, why wasn't the shipping merchant contacted so they could call and get the correct details. One phone call could have saved a lot of wasted time.

Yes, I wonder the same thing. What really tweaks my nose is that the package went back a day before my birthday and ThinkGeek is still telling us they won't do anything about it until some more days have gone by. The fucking package has been RETURNED. In fact, it is probably at the Thinkgeek shipping center by now. So, send me a new item, already. Try to put an address on this one.
