Program to look for Wi-Fi's.

Don't think my wireless networks works, what other programs are out there that can detect an network.
Can it be a possiblity that the network is not detected because it requires a login (i got the username and password for it).

answer my question riosluts. i see guys like you all the time at sears that come in and buy a wireless network card but when i try to sell them a router they say they dont need one. it always perplexes me until they tell me they are going to set up the computer as close as possible to their neighbour and try to use their network.

the wifi would also have to be setup to broadcast the ssid.I dont broadcast mine, so you would never know I had one. They are setup by default to broadcast them, to help ease setup. But I suggest turning that off once you secure it.

kismet can detect the presence of non-broadcasted SSIDs based on traffic on that band
