I quit on January 14th. it was hard. Very hard. But after a few days I was 'ok' and now I can breathe easier and don't wake up feeling like utter crap. it's sooooooo worth it.

got this from a canadian website

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hecs-sesc/tob...ithdrawal.html

Short-term physical withdrawal
This may include feeling grouchy or irritable, bored, hungry, tired, depressed, or nervous. Some people also have trouble sleeping or cough more than usual. Some people don't feel anything or have only one symptom. Other people feel a lot of symptoms. Withdrawal occurs because nicotine is leaving your body. The symptoms will last fewer than two weeks after quitting.

Temptations to smoke
Temptations cause you to have a craving. Seeing, smelling or touching something familiar can be a temptation. The most powerful temptation is seeing a cigarette or watching someone else smoke. You can also be tempted to smoke because a friend offers you a cigarette (they may not realize you have quit smoking). You may be tempted to smoke before, during or after stressful situations, or to help you feel better.

Cravings to smoke
The urge to have a cigarette is called a craving. Certain smells (e.g. the smell of someone else's cigarette or the smell of fresh coffee) or sights (watching your friends gather in a familiar spot to smoke) may remind you how much you miss smoking. You may miss the taste, smell or feel of a cigarette. Cravings can last for a few days or a few months after quitting.

Breaking old habits.
There are many habits or routines associated with smoking. For example, some people like to gently touch a cigarette or lighter and play with them in their hand. When they quit, they miss having something in their hand. You may also miss having something in your mouth.

I quit smoking, man went cold turkey, and it has been three years now so just keep busy, go to the gym, man instead of a puff, get down and do a few push ups instead, you will beat the urge,

I quit cold turkey about 17ish years ago.

In all honesty, when I drink, I STILL have cravings for it and I have never been addicted to any other drug or booze. It HAS to be one of the most addictive substances out there.

But it CAN be licked Just do it to prove to yourself it can.

Best of luck - you will be SO much happier once you know you've stopped forever

Just hang in there, its worth it
Been 1 year for me now and I will NEVER go back.
The trick is to change your attitude towards smoking, find yourself some reasons to hate it and i mean REALY hate it.
Also look into how to do some breathing excersises to deal with the stress (i would recomend Chi Kung)
Good luck

That's exactly what did. I found the best reason even. waking up and not being sure if I will live to see the next day. Smoking really left my throat and lungs stuffed up at times.

great idea, and thats how I have been working on it.. basically I dont like to be addicted to anything or not in control. Secondly I dont like the way it feels afterwards or my physical health. Third and as mentioned, I dont want to have kids and have them grow up with a dad who smokes. My fiancee is also allergic

I quit about 1 1/2 months ago. I've cracked a couple times when I'm out drinking but been able to get over the cravings with lots of water or gum.

goodluck with your quitting!!

I've cut down from about half a pack... sometimes a whole pack a day to 2-3 cigs a day. When I go out to the bars/clubs I smoke like a train though.

I had tried before this, but found that I actually started to sweat and get sick when I tried again. it was then that I stuck to it and tried to make the distance

thats actually one of the main reasons I want too.. my fiancee and I are planning on marrying next year, and soon to have a kid.. I would like to be totally free by then and not have to let my kids face second hand - not too mention I would like to live a bit longer to see them

If she's so worth it then why not secure your chances of a longer life with her by not smoking anymore at all? It would break your child's heart to see you depart her life from a habbit that will kill you. Image your child wanting to do stuff at the park with you but you can't because you are tired and slow when she wants to play

I'm so glad I quit. When my baby comes I will be happy knowing that my child will grow up away from smokers and won't be tempted and curious about cigarettes as easily.

Yes. I found cold turkey wasn't really an issue for me. Apparently I wasn't as addicted as I thought I was.

I wish you the world's best luck, man. It's a bitch.

I hope that is the case, but there are smokers everywhere, are you able to keep your children away completely?? They are going to get second hand smoke somewhere, and if not - then the smog definitely will get them.

None of our family within 500 miles smokes, none of our friends smoke except for one person who won't be smoking on our property. Yeah I'm pretty sure our child will be away from smokers for quite a long time at least until high school.

I quit smoking about 15 years ago but on several occasions have fallen down and got hooked again, even after all this time. What helps keep me off of them is the thought that I haven't actually quit at all, but am just waiting for a nice fatal disease someday (hopefully a slow killer) so I can start up again.

In the meantime, I try to suck as much pussy as possible, helps the cravings. I put my face in the crack between the pussy and asshole and run my tongue up and down until my ears fill up with juice, then I don't think about cigs for a few minutes.

Went back to pipe tobacco.

$4.85 can last me a week. so 252$ a year on tobacco. Also no additives

This guy makes his own tobacco here in town. he has about 25 blends. Totally kicks ass

Anyone who cares for some additive free unique blends, hit me up on the wire can
