But if he's right..... I don't really have to finisht that thought.

Same applies to non-believers. If THEY are right, then whatever, you die you're dead, right?

But if they're wrong......:1orglaugh

Pascal's Wager. The silliest argument for religion in history. Let's look at real odds by adding in the other factors.... which god do I choose? If I choose the wrong one, I'm damned anyway. Once I've chosen the right one, which translation of that religion's bible do I use? The odds keep getting narrower.

And what do I have to lose by believing? How about my freedom to research and hopefully discover TRUE answers that might have otherwise contradicted my dogmatic beliefs?

Suddenly the wager looks entirely different. Best odds are in disbelief.

If man did indeed evolve from apes, then it was only by a happenstance genetic mutation. This mutation then evolved into mankind, which would explain why monkeys are still in existance.

That's it in a nutshell, but there's much more to it.

And like I've said before, I really don't give two shits what anyone else believes as long as those beliefs are not shoved off on me. :thumbsup

Do you by any chance know anything about the Lady Hope story? (serious question... not sarcastic!)

well take gravity instead of the teacher's brain, you can't see that yet you believe it.

Gravity can be felt and measured. Again, a false analogy.

Edit: For the record, when I debate this, I'm debating respectfully. I've had people get really offended in the past, and I'm not trying to offend. I just can't resist religious debates. :) Religion has always fascinated me, but I see it as fundamentally flawed in all ways.

no offense taken, I feel the exact same way I can't steer clear of a religious debate either allthough I know I'll get the same arguements thrown at me time after time :)

You're right about my point... let's try it this way, please note I'm not trying to convert you I'm merely trying to prove my point...

Do you believe Jesus walked this earth?

She being the Lady who supposedly was with Darwin at his death (or had visited his deathbed), then told people that Darwin recanted his theory and wished he'd never told it, and became a Christian?

His daughter was published as saying that not only did her father not recant nor turn Christian, but Lady Hope had never been near him nor in his room as he lay dying.

Is that the one?

yup that's the one... I've heard many stories about it but still it's a hard story to prove or disprove because it's one word against the other right.
