exe files wont work (winxp)

i cannot run any programs or files that end with .exe.anyone have any suggestions?
iv searched all over google and cant find anything,and i really dont want to format my drive.
please help

are you running bear share? when I was running bear share, I was having teh same problem. I had to unistall bear share to get it to work. If not then what computer brand are you using, and how old is it?

Rename the .exe to .com and it'll work. You've got a virus.

well, if you can't delete it with your scanner (what I think) the only way out is a format c: and a new windows installation...

If you cannot execute any .exe file, so how can you search?
You run a browser and it's .exe file also. So may be the problem is with "windows explorer". Try to execute any file from the command line.

actually im using Firefox and im not having any problems with it,im just having problems trying to install or load any exe file.

i scanned for viruses and it found none,i have tried everything that everyone suggested and still no luck.

So how you think you execute it?
There is an exe file executed each time when you click an Firebox's icon in your start menu. So you cannot have ALL you exe files corrupted.
Anyway. Try to go to "run" menu. Type there "msconfig". Go to startup tab and uncheck all there. Then restart your pc.

If you'll still have the problem reinstall this fucking system ;)

i tried reinstalling windows yesterday and ,also ran the system recovery program and point restore.
nothing worked
