Idea for an automated hit music generator
I had this idea while reading the thread about the guy wanting music that would "pump him up."
Now, I think that most of you can agree that the value we see in music is directly proportional to its ability to lead us into various emotional states which we can't as easily reach and keep without assistance. Therefore my idea is that we could sedate (plus possibly perceptionally blind) and hook a pack of human volunteers or chimps up on electrodes and have a computer continually generate random (albeit within logical bounds) compositions of audio for them, and then automatically save the compositions that make the subjects emit strong brainwaves associated with pleasure, anger, or sadness areas of the brain. With a large enough subject base, you would be able to go through quite a number of possible audio compositions in a short amount of time. Weird idea, huh? But with some perfection it would work, and you could make billions from developing the discovered hit melodies. |

I am not kidding you here but, Sony (or whoever it was) actually completed a soft that sense the "hitfactor" of a tune last year or so....
