I think it's ridiculous that the French havent brought up the point that if the hostage takers want muslims to be able to openly demonstrate thier religious practices in France, then all other religions should be freely practiced throughout the muslim world.

you do bring up a good point, my dad went and lvied in saudi arabia for 7 years with BCE managing communications for their military. They demand that you follow their rules and laws to the letter, NO acceptions. yet when they are coming to canada, they scream that they have a right to do whatever the hell it is over here. Sad thing is that I know of religious communities here that practise mulitple wives etc. and get away with it - siting religious rights.

yeah they enforce crazy rules on people living over there...a friend of mine grew up in the UAE..her dad is an engineer for some oil company...anyway one of her friends got caught with some weed over there..and even though is family was fairly rich and his father held a high postion in a company employing many people....it took almost two years to get him out of jail.

they are insane over there....my cousin was a nurse in a private hospital over there as well, and she would have to dress up to leave the compound....she went out a few times years ago refusing to cover herself up..but nothing ever happened as when she would leave on a tear like that, usually 5-6 guys from the base or hospital would be with her or following her around...it is not safe over there, especially if you have blonde hair and blue eyes..lol
