A content providers Statistics on sales.

I've always beleived in keeping detailed records and statistics, especially on sales and traffic.

So for the last few days I've been documenting sales of sets and videos over the last three months, hopefully will find the time today to take it up to 6 months.

The interesting thing is NEW CONTENT IS NOT SELLING.

We release 8 or more new sets a week and besides mailing out to all our registered users, I have started to spam the boards again with a poster on the new sets, see link. This brings a boost to the turn over and a lot of compliments.

Hoqwever what I'm seeing in the statistics is people are not buying the new sets, they are buying content that is over 3-4 weeks old. This I find vwery strange as every one is always telling me that exclusive is the way to go.

A set is exclusive to a surfer if he has not seen it before, if he has not seen the girl before even better. A lot of our girls are brand new to modelling, with no one else and pretty good looking. So why are people buying sets that are 4 or more weeks old when they could be buying content that is fresh and brand new?

Over all the more I see what a set is worth after three months the less I want to shoot custom, selling non-exclusive is worth twice what most people want to pay for custom. Especially when it comes to boy-girl and girl-girl content.

So anyone got any comments?

Wish I had the answers for ya Paul! Would you say sales are down in general? This could have a lot to do with new 2257. Sure you've heard more about that than you want to think about.

Your work is known to be top notch, so it must be something to do with the industry.

I don't think 3-4 weeks is OLD... We do this full-time, a lot of surfers don't. It takes them longer to see everything that's available.

And there's more to selling a surfer than exclusive/new content; It's got to be something they WANT.

I think more of us littlle guys are trying to really niche in. Simple girl-girl or guy-girl is not what we need.

We're working on fat men in diapers or hairy asians or what ever, you get the idea. We can't compete with lightspeed, nasty etc., so we have to look for unusal content that we can stand to look at.

No our sales are holding steady, in fact so steady it's boring. No growth and no decline, within 10% of the same figures of last year.

But it could be due to the market tightening up and us picking up others business. There has been some casualties recently.

I think the 2257 will force a lot of webmasters back to buying their own content, they are unlikely to be getting 2257 documents from sponsors and going soft on galleries might effect sales.

Too early to tell though.

So for myself three weeks is new if its what I need for AVS etc. It's more the content than if it is brand new. With thousands of sites, someone has to be really exposed to be seen before.

Always thought you had contracts with major players and had it made in the shade...

BTW, hi Dag

This has always been my argument about exclusive. Some of the stuff that is being shot exclusive is simply not going to turn on the experienced surfer and buying non exclusive before it's plastered everywhere makes economic sense.

So why do buyers go to the store after getting our Newsletters and buy sets that are 3 months old?

The whole 2257 issue is scary and has been over covered in so many threads...

Boring is good sometimes. The money keeps rolling in.

What do you consider your target market?

Either because of price or it was what they were looking for.

When I shop for content, I usuallly have a budget and something in mind on what I'm looking for. So I've bought from you, midnight, adultcontent, Lace and bunch of others. Point being that there is a price range there and a quality range. In the end I have to fill the need for type of content.

Paul, I am a very small player to be sure. Add a bunch of us up and....

Feel like I'm not really helping ya..... ??

What has affected my buying right now is what google did to me, so spending on content is down. Even if it was up, not sure you notcie much on your bottom line.

Problem with a lot of this content is finding fresh new supplies for the surfer. The guys interested in the more obscure are going to be trawling the Net for it, they don't just get converted becasue they saw it for the first time. They are very likely to have seen it before and know a lot about the niche.

Yes I would agree, a set has to be sold many times before it's over exposed. But it would just make sense to me to buy stuff that is brand new when it's released. Rather than come into a site and buy sets that are over a month old and ignore the new stuff.

We have few clients who rate as BIGGIES, the bulk of our business comnes from medium to smaller clients. The big guys saturate content and want it for less than the normal clients, go figure that one out.

Are you 3-4 week old sets cheaper than the newer sets?

That could likely be the reason.

Itīs not about the age of the set. I use content which I like and if i need something special it doesnīt matter how old it is, it has to fit in the siteīs theme.

Yeah same here, if I'm looking for something specific and I can find it, I don't really care how old it is..

The other thing that is intersting is the reurn over the period of 6 months and a year.

A set/video will do on average $500 in the first 6 months then $100 over the next 6 months. then sales die.

Except with Boy-Girl and some Girl-Girl, they keep selling. Guess what we are shooting more of?

Tranny?

Just kidding, of course. Is there a way to catch the girl who has done the most sets for you? I need some sets of a girl for a test on one of my sites.

That would probably be one of thse girls

http://www.paulmarkham.com/content.php?modelId=349

http://www.paulmarkham.com/content.php?modelId=419

http://www.paulmarkham.com/content.php?modelId=535

Don't shoot a lot on one girl unless they are very good sellers. Spoilt for choice here.
