Indian Larry died

He died at 3:40am, was on life support after falling off his bike during a show and having brain surgery.

Maybe now Discovery Channel will insist that the guys on those biker buildoff shows wear helmets. Never understood why they didnt do that, those shows get alot of people interested in purchasing a motorcycle then they dont wear helmets because it must not be cool to wear one, because the guys on TV dont wear them.

WOW !! That really sucks. I was always surprised Discovery would show a guy surfing on his motorcycle with no helmet since they're such a family oriented network.

RIP Indian Larry.

I always thought about how crazy some of the stuff he did was and how easy it could be to hit a pothole and lose control.

'Indian Larry' hurt on stunt in Cabarrus

Builder of custom motorcycles airlifted from county arena

MARK PRICE

Staff Writer

A custom-motorcycle builder known to Discovery Channel viewers as Indian Larry was seriously injured while performing a stunt Saturday at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center.

Cabarrus County officials said the stunt driver sustained head injuries and was in critical condition after being airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. A CMC official couldn't confirm his condition.

Indian Larry has been featured on Discovery's Biker Build-Off television series and was at the arena to perform stunts during the three-day Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series.

"He was riding and standing up on his seat," said Mike Downs, Cabarrus County deputy county manager. "The bike started to wobble and he was not able to regain control."

Indian Larry fell off the bike before a crowd of about 8,000. He was not wearing a helmet. Paramedics were standing by at and aided him until he could be airlifted to CMC, Downs said.

The show continued, but all other stunts were canceled, Downs said.

Indian Larry is known for his eccentric nature, according to his official Web site. His résumé includes movie, video and television.

that sucks
i just saw that biker build off episode too. he seemed like a really cool guy.

spunky1, i agree with you. but he didn't die just riding one. he was performing one of his stunts which consists of standing on the seat of the bike as it's rolling, without a helmet.

Sucks that he's gone, but he went doing what he loved.

He knew the consequences of his actions. That's what made him special. He did what he wanted regardless.

I have watched him perform that stunt a few times and always thought one day it would claim him, it is sad that it did. As a fellow shop owner who does custom work and fabrication he has always had my respect as an originator and a great builder. The community will miss him, he seemed like a really great guy, real layed back and had a no foolishness aproach to building which is getting rare now. The man was a professional and I can only hope that my shop ever gets as much air time as he did and our builds being half as sucessful would be magnificent. I wonder what is to happen to Gasoline Alley

The old guys do not like helmets because they falsify speed, you get no wind in your face so it is hard to guage your speed. These guys are old school there is no making them do anything.

The biker world has lost one of the nicest guys youll ever meet. Larry rode hard, lived fast and died doing what he loved best. It just sucks that he was finally getting his life in order and making money. R I P larry hopefully they have a scooter in the sky waiting for you.

Thats to bad
I dont know any old bikers that wear helmets but they dont go 70 on the highway or do stunts. They have also seen a lot of people die riding so they will be the first ones to stress the dangers of riding

He was cool on those Discovery shows, and always helped his burnout competition with the dreads get his bikes working. It's sad, but I guess a lifetime of stunts without adequate protection caught up with him.

Damn that sucks, he made rad bikes. I am just getting over a bike accident, a fucker cut me off and i went a flyin' like superman. But thanks to top notch equipment I only got a fracured finger and got to see what my kneecap looked like. My helmet saved my life because it was one of the first things to hit ground, I dove thru the air head first.
