Some javascript messed up my IE 5.5
A website has screwed up my browser with some javascript writing to my registry. It included adding stuff to my bookmarks. Here's the part that I think is causing my browser to slow down, it takes a long time to open a new window -

Does anyone know what this does and how to undo whatever its done? |

First try a IE rebuild from the remove programs in the control panel then you may have to try a reinstall of Windows. One might work.

I found the cause of the trouble. It was some active x program installed automaticaly in my comp by the webpage, possibly a dialer.

Not always a dialer.. these fools are coming up with some pretty inventive methods of adding shit into your pc without your permission.... my damn blacklist is getting to be about as big as my tgp list itself because of this shit........ a good friend of mine let me in on a little secret and maybe it will help you... it has sure made my life easier.
When you are reviewing galleries, go to your tools and internet options and set the security as high as it will go while reviewing.......... he had his whole harddrive fried because of an active x thing on one gallery.......... and surprisingly enough it wasn't a dialer....... Try that and see if it works and watch your blacklist get bigger by the damn day too. Tam ------------------ May the Force Be With YOU!! Gimmee your fucking galleries, NOW!!! AND Your AVS Sites!! |

Hey SoulRebel, I believe IE5.5 works on Mac. I know for sure IE5 does. But yuo need the MAC version, which is a little different.
But, at work I use MAC, and here at home I'm on PC. Why anyone would want a mac is beyond me. |

My mother was going to buy a mac and when I asked around for her, I was told that although the OS is more stable that the hard drives have a tendency to go more frequently. I haven't used them since 1992 personally though.

Soul_Rebel,
Now I understand your question. I don't really use a Mac, that tag was put there by GFY. The only time I use a mac is when I record in the studios using Protools. Tam, I didnt catch the ActiveX thing from a gallery, it was from a search engine listed site. |

I use a MAC everyday, and everyday I can't wait to get back to my PC. They may have been more stable at one time, but now they're just repackaged eyecandy.
Oh, they're clear now? Ok, I'll buy one. Oh, now they're only 8" and cubed? Ok, i'll but one. Oh, now they have a 60's flower pattern ok, I'll buy one. Actually I shouldn't be so sinister. I really do feel sorry for people (like my boss) who fell into Mac several years ago, because that's all they know. It's so sad to watch him flipping through a MacWarehouse catalog, (which we get almost every other day) to find accessories, and then trying to match compatibility. Then he has to order and wait. But to him it's ok, because that's the level of service he is used to with Mac. Not to mention when it comes it's occasionally the wrong part so we have to send it back. Also almost everything he has bought for it is external. He has cables from all kinds of accessories going everywhere. LOL. Poor guy. External modem, external zip drive, external cd-burner, external this, external that... It'e a mess. Not to even mention the software base is no where near what's available for PC. I could go on for days. But the ultimate irony is... HE RUNS MICROSOFT SOFTWARE!!! BWAHAHAHA. What an asshole! He uses a mac, but only uses Microsoft Word and IE5 on that computer! LOL His retarded Born-Again brother convinced him to go with Mac years ago. I've tried to change his mind ever since I started. But have you ever tried to change the mind of a born-again? Forget it. It's like beating a dead horse, it's pointless. ------------------ ...:::End Of Line:::... ------------------ * uSexFan.com * ICQ : 114683191 |

A Mac may not be good for a home user, but its the most stable piece of equipment for anything professional, from audio recordings to video editing and effects. I have yet to see a PC in any professional multimedia company.
