Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Server?

Which is better for running programs for extended periods of time.

Has Windows 2003 solved any memory leak issues and such?

Opinions?

Memory leaks are usually the fault of that specific program, not the O/S.

Win2k has always worked well for people i know that do things that you are asking about.

I recently redid the network for a small insurance companies office. I used 2000 Server because most of the bugs and such are worked out of it (SP4 + critical updates), and 2000 server is all they really need. PLUS there is way more documentation available on 2000 server.

I think theres a few websites that compare 2000/2003 Server as far as new features and benchmark testing, i'll try to dig them up.

If you need anything running the .net framework, I'd reccomend 2K3.

We have a game server (emulator) running on that which uses .Net for just about everything, and it's not crashed once in over a month.

I have Unix servers already. Windows servers are being used for different reasons.

I think that XP is just a skinned version of 2k pro. With a few changes. But it is very stable.

But for real work and secrity you need unix.
