Plasma 4 sure, LCD is good for computer, but can't refresh fast enough compared to plasma, plus plasma is brighter and more vivid colors, cheaper and despite the myth the gas runs out, it takes 10+ years under normal viewing conditions. That and it has waaay better viewing angles and it's cheaper per square inch of viewing area.
The only downside is if you lay it flat on the floor while you're setting it up you can fuck it up for good, and it can get burn in.

Plasma.
Contrast. Advantage: Plasma. For scenes with a lot of dark and light images shown simultaneously-as with content originating from DVDs, video games, and NTSC TV signals-plasma TVs will consistently outperform LCD TVs. COLOR SATURATION Advantage: Plasma, with the following caveat: While plasma displays are especially good for moving images, LCD technology is better at displaying static images with particular crispness and even coloration. VIEWING ANGLE Advantage: Plasma Plasma manufacturers have made much of their 160° viewing angles, which is about as good as horizontal and vertical viewing angles get. This owes to the fact that each pixel is lit by itself, not from some central light source. Hence, each pixel is more readily visible because its brightness is consistent with every other pixel on the screen. VIDEO PLAYBACK Advantage: Plasma PRODUCTION SIZE & COST Advantage: Advantage: Plasma. Even though production costs and retails prices have come down for both technologies, plasma still has the edge as far as production cost and capacity go. LCD. FUNCTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS "Computer use" Advantage: LCD, except at "harsh" viewing angles LONGEVITY Advantage LCD X2 SCREEN INTEGRITY Advantage: LCD VOLTAGE REQUIREMENTS Advantage LCD X2 Now you make the final decision ;) |

What about DLP? Starting to get those in the shops here in the UK now. Was looking at a 44 inch LG DLP earlier today and it looked impressive.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys relize there is an Internet outside of GFY. Half the questions on this board have to be just to boost post count since a simple Google search can answer most.

Plasma has a better overall picture quality, especially with a larger screen. And the images stretch all the way to the very edge of the screen without distortion.

i spent a long time trying to decide which way to go. i finally made the decison to install a plasma for my home theatre, and an LCD flat screen for my master bedroom (works really well for surfing the internet from bed).
here's a pic of my 55 inch Sony XBR plasma the day it arrived (couple of months ago): ![]()

I have a couple plasmas and they are great. Definately the way to go.
Although my favorite tv is my 64" Pioneer Elite HD projection because nothing gets that big yet and the picture is lcd like in quality.
