Had Lasik surgery yesterday, VERY happy

If you have the money go get it done! Surgery takes 10 minutes and there is no recovery time. All you have to do is where these special sun glasses for 48 hours and take drops every 4. This is by far the best thing I've ever done for my self, I couldn't be happier!!!

Free upgrades for life too!!

it was $1950 an eye and they had some discount going so it came out to like 3600 or so.

I don't know about this wave form, mine was done my laser.

Hey congrats on having the guts to do that. I know several people that have tried, but once they go in the chair, they chickened out.

My wife had eye surgery and they used a scapal. She was awake for the entire thing.

I would have freaked and run.

You don't actually see them bank the incision. They have this suction ring around your eye that actually makes you loose all vision for 10 seconds while they make the cut. All you ever see is a little red dot and that's it.

Its so crazy. Like you have your normal vision, they lift up the flap on your eye, 5-10 seconds of laser work, and as soon as the put the flap back down you see perfect.

I'm still in shock and its almost been 48 hours. HIGHLY recommend.

Free upgrades for life is good. I'm only 20 right now so how knows how well my eyes will age. Maybe in 30-40 years my eyes might need a little tune up, and now I can just stop by and get it for free.

The surgery has been around for a long time, i think like 30 years. I was amazed when the doc told be the method first came out.

Here's a good number for all of you who are scared:
0 out of 4,000,000 surgerys have resulted in blindness.

The first clinical trial of LASIK in the US was in 1991, and the FDA approved its use in 1999. Prior to that, the most popular form of laser-assisted visual adjustment was PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) which was considerably more painful, and slower to heal as it essentially involved ablating (by means of the excimer laser) layers of corneal tissue to re-shape the surface.

No cases of blindless have been reported in north america as a result of a botched LASIK surgery. There have been complications including (major) flap detachement, final vision ending up worse than original vision, and infection. Most major complications have direct correlations to the capability of the operator of the lasik machine, so it's essential to be sure that the people performing your surgery are the most experienced possible.

Minor complications include over/undercorrection, 'starbursts' at night which obscure dim light vision, an increase in 'dry eye'. A good opthamologist should be able to identify risk factors that would tell you the possibility for some of these factors showing up.

I know about the folds in the flap, but the odds are pretty small 1/1000 or so and all you have to do is go back in and get it fixed

Yeah, I've seen all the horror stories too... thing is, a shit-tonne of these surgeries happen and we only ever hear of the bad stuff if you do a search online. 5 different people I know had LASIK and 1 had PRK, all of them were perfectly fine afterwards (although the lady who had PRK said her eyes felt like they had sand in em for a few days and it drove her nuts not being able to scratch em).

I've been looking at this for a good long while and finally decided to go for it. Just waiting for my appt with the optho to give my eyes a going-over and that'll start the process. I'm looking forward to not stumbling around blindly every morning until I track down my specs.

Actually after 5 years the vision tend to go down again ... optometrist say they don't care to reffer their clients to thoses clinics since they get referal fees and they are bacak couple years after ... (that's what my mother's best friend told me ... and she's an optometrist)

I had LASIK done back in 1998, best decision I ever made!

I know about 20 other people that have had it done by the same doctor and everyone has had perfect results. I highly recommend doing it.

I had my Lasik done about 3 years ago, and LOVE it.

Damn, I'm SOOOOO glad I live in Southern California where there is huge competition. Mine was only $849 for both eyes. It was only suppose to be $399 pre eye, but I had a stigmatism in one of my eyes so it was $50 more for that eye.

Just think, you could have flown to LA, went to disneyland, knotts berry farm, and 6 flags. Stayed at a nice hotel, and still had money left over for your Lasik.

I got my lasik about 2 years ago and I still see 15/20. It was the best couple grand I ever spent. The surgery is a bit nerving just because you know they are messing with your eyes but everything turned out great and I would suggest it to anyone who was a canidate for it.

DAMN, wish I knew how cheap it was out west. My stigmatisms were so bad on both my eyes almost everyone in the clinic were amazing I could actual function normally(drive, see, read, etc.)

Everything turn out great, don't be scared people its WAY worth it. I was to excited about having the procedure done to be scared.

I haven't done it because of the night vision issues. Anytime you introduce more surfaces into the eye you get internal reflections and bad night vision.

Maybe some day.

The night vision problems aren't as commonplace when the surgery is done with some of the newer technology.

I had mine done 5 months ago. I went from not seeing clearly 12 inches beyond by nose to 20/20 overnight. I paid extra to have the wavefront customvue done. It helps to prevent the starring and other night vision problems. I had to ask others who had the night vision problems what they looked like because I haven't encountered any.

My only regret...

that I didn't do it 10 years earlier.

The tape your eyelids open, so you can't close your eye.
