Who here are still near/in good terms with their parents ?

I go to my parents at LEAST once a month ... I'm in very good term with them and everytime we eat (our whole family + gf + baby) we have a lot of fun during couple hours ...

I really don't have any problems with them and no harsh feelings that could come from things that happened while growing up ...

I'm really starting to think they are the perfect parents since I see everybody arround me fighting with their parents (even my parents themselves ... my father left at 14 and mother lives 5 hours drive from them) .

I'm a mommy's girl.. I like to go home, spend time with my parents, and siblings!
Growing up I hated my home, and now that I can value how great my parents are...I guess you just mature with time...

Had a rough first 16 years. Then the last 12 went well. Then I started in this business and we have not spoken since. Kinda sucks. You parents always say...."Whatever you do I will support you, just do it well." Well business is good, but no parents. Sucks actually. Break out the violins.

I bought a house with my mom when I was 18 since I didn't want her to keep living in her small appartment...

Now I'll probably buy her share of the house back to give her some money so she can travel while she's still relatively young.

So yeah, Good relations.. can be heated at time since me and my mom are the same character, but heh, it's all good

I see my dad a couple times a month easily too

great parents, can't complain!

I still live at home. Mom and I have a very good relationship, very open. I'd tell her anything (cept the time I left a pot of ravioli on the stove for 1 1/2 hours on high). I miss her right now because dad and I sent her off to law school to get her degree after being able to finally graduate college.

Dad and I have a decent relationship. He loves me dearly (as in every man I anything to do with must meet him) and has my best intentions in mind. He supports me in what I do, even if its kinda stupid and is there to pick me up, kick my ass back into the game, and tell me I can do anything. ^_^

Both parents know about my work in the Adult Industry. Mom's so proud, my grammer has gotten so much better. Dad's been looking at porn since he was 16 and has never stopped. I think he's kinda proud.

I go over to my parents house once a week. They don't like that I do porn and try to get me to stop but they still talk to me.

I'm on decent terms with my mother. I actually helped her retire by selling her a 10% stake in my business here.

My mom lives with us so although she doesn't totally agree on the type of work we do, she fully supports us. It's a heck of a long way from when I was growing up. We don't agree on many things but the kids & hubby make jokes to brake the ice before things get rough ;) One thing is for sure, she's sacrificed a good part of her life for me more than for my brothers so whatever the case may be - I have to put my tail between my legs and keep the waters smooth.

I have a mom that is very hard to deal with. She knows what I do, and does not like it, but she always asks how things are going.

My mom liked my sister more than she did my brothers and I, but now, my brothers and I take better care of her than my sister.

I have a question about this ....

Do you guys think it is extremely "abnormal" if I haven't spoken to my mom in like 6 or 7 years? My best friend tells me that it is EXTREMELY abnormal and that I need help and see a therapist because I can't talk to my mom. I think it's not THAT weird, I really don't know.

It started when I was a teen and I had problems getting along with mom. People always say that it gets better when you get older and that you become closer when you get older. This has not been true for me. When I turned 19 I just left home one day without telling her and moved out (because I didn't get along with her) and I haven't talked to her since, except maybe 4 or 5 times in almost 7 years.

I think my mother is too protective of me because I'm her daughter. She still treats me like I'm 12 when I'm 26. I really can't explain why but I can't talk to her at all, about anything. I don't feel comfortable talking to her about work, my education, my life, or anything for that matter, we just weren't close when growing up and now that I'm an adult we just don't talk at all.

One of my friends keeps telling me that I am cruel and evil because I won't visit my mom ( I know that she is looking for me and wants to see me) But I just can't. I am so used to not dealing with her that I just don't want to start dealing with it all over again. I think I have resentments because my mom was too overprotective of me when growing up, even when I was over 18 she would still forbid me to go out and snoop through my room. I couldn't take it so I just left home and we never rebuilt our relationship.

Is this really abnormal? My friend keeps telling me i HAVE to visit my mom because she is old and what if something happens to her, I might regret it. She lives very close to me , but for some reason I am so used to not dealing with all the family drama, I just can't deal with it again.
