I worked my way around Europe a few years ago (cuisine helper in Switzerland, painting walls in London, washing sheets in Israel).
About tourist cities and sights, if you are young (under 30), check out Let´s Go, a book printed by Harvard students; if you are older, try Former´s books.
I really think (this is just an opinion) Americans must visit England and Holland. In the US, people's mind are driven by money; in Germany and other Teuton-Nordic countries, people attitude is defined by enforcement of the law (jaywalking IS fined in Germany); in third world countries like mine, people try to find shortcuts, other than hard work, to get their welfare. England and Holland, however, have societies founded in tolerance and respect to other people´s rights; British and Dutch seem to know that just by doing the right thing (regardless of money or law), the living in society will be better.

Again, this was just my opinion. No personal or country offenses intended.

Holland is nice but many laws suck!
(Legal Drugs ? Legal age for sex 14 wanted to make it 12 or do you agree with that ?)
anyway it is obvious that not many have been to europe for a long long time ! Or that they live in there country and never travel
exept to Spain to mingle with tourists..

As I said earlier get a Eurorail pass and go from city to city country to country stay where u like it and if you hire a car beware
petrol is VERY expensive in some countrys!

Hello brazz

At least we have beautiful places to visit in our country and the people like the tourists here. And everything is pretty cheap for the tourists now. A big mac for example is about HALF the price that in US.
But who needs a big mac when we can eat EVERYTHING from EVERYWHERE here ?
I think Sao Paulo is the city with the most variety of restaurants in the world.
