From the article.. sounds like she was still on appeal when she started the Olympics.

Judges tend to be more lenient when you plead guilty or no contest too.

I have yet to meet a person who is out on bail/appeal that is allowed to leave the country. Most cant even leave their county or state

as for only getting 90 days, vehicular manslaughter isnt considered a major crime, more of a lack of paying attention

She was in a car with her boyfriend and some kid, and was believed to have drank a bit.

The crash killed her boyfriend and the kid, and left her with a broken arm and back.
