sex.com bringing in $500,000 a month in ad revenue?

Do you believe it? http://www.siliconvalley.com/docs/op...p/pd060801.htm

Its probably true.. You figure there are a lot of people who are stupid enough to fork over money to advertise on a domain with a catchy name like sex.com

there ae a lot of people with deep pockets that have no clue as to how the true dynamics of the adult web work..

Look at the mainstream net industry for instance.. The high payrolls, and the huge advvertising budgets that we all saw 2 years ago.. Those companies many of which never did show any profit, would pay millions just to advertise during the superbowl.

It doesnt suprise me that these same level thinking people would pay huge amounts of $$ to advertise on a site that sounds huge like sex.com

not to say they aren't huge, but to say that they are 500,000 dollar huge per month off advertsing is obviously some crazy loot.

$500,000 per month seems like an HUGE amount for even something as big as sex.com to pull in.... I'm guessing those figures are inflated...

But who knows?

I dont think it is inflated, I think people with deep pockets who dont know any better are actually paying it to equal that much.

Actually I specifically remember at PLR radio's angel webmaster auction that the 1 month banner advertisement on sex.com was valued at $10,000. There can't be that many banner spots on sex.com to equal up to 500,000 per month...

you guys are funny

you think persian kitty makes 200k a month off 150k hits a day. but, 6 million a year from sex.com is unheard of?

500k is a crazy number. but, i dealt with a company that was tossing six figures at this guy each month for ad spots.

there are lots of people out there making big bucks and you've never heard of them. want an example, look at me

and I haven't give any feedback on their new layout! wow! I guess if I have done it then sex.com would bring at least the double lol
The ad revenues include the listings on their directory. If I'm right, they'are all paid. So we shouldn't count only the banners.

a lot of newbies there, all fresh porn surfers who've never heard of tgp's and link sites. That traffic is worth A LOT.

I can totally believe $500,000/month now that I think about it in terms of my own site -- proportionately to how much traffic sex.com is making... If I can make $5000 off of 30K/day and my traffic isn't half as good as sex.com -- then that means all they need is 1.5 million visitors/day to make $500,000/month... in order for me to believe it. How much traffic *do* they get at sex.com?

Does Persian Kitty really make "200k a month off 150k hits a day"

I'd believe 50-100k/month would be a lot to make off of 150k hits -- but $200,000/month?! That's really hard to believe... Even including in that figure all the rebills that she's got since the day she started and all the webmaster referrals -- I'd like to see all her income broken down... if she makes $200k/month then damn that must be some killer search engine and type-in traffic.

Interesting perspectives

My first thought was "only $500,000" a month?

a domain like that ought to have a lot more potential, plus the guy's probably got a few legal bills... so he's entitled

I would guess that the type in and search engine traffic is worth quite a lot on that domain

How much traffic does sex.com get? I'm sure someone knows...

Well my calculations for 1.5 million visitors/day were totally made up... if their traffic was 10 times as good as mine which is possible (hahah but I wouldn't know), they would only need 300,000/day instead of 1.5 million visitors/day to make $500,000 haha...

Looks like if I ever want to see that much money I will need to work a little more on my site ehehehe...

If they only generate $500,000/month, then theses guys should bring back Cohen. He always said he made way more than that per month.

That traffic is fucking golden. Newbie/virgin surfers, sitting at home without a fucking clue. They type in tits.com, porno.com, pussy.com, fuck, com, sex.com etc etc. Don't you guys remember Webfather? One word type-in domains don't even need a fuckinf real site on them. A crude page with banners works just fine, although I'd have some kind of re-direct script whipping surfers straight to a nice join page.

500K isn't at all out of hand, and I would also be surprised if that's all they are making. Cohen made alot more than that monthly for years and if the site couldn't produce why would people have continued to pay him for the traffic?

I don't find it amazing that Beth (PK) makes 200k a month either, that would be a minimum to get to where I've heard she is yearly.

100 advertisers x $5000 a month = $500K.

It's not that far out of reach.

I've known worse sites that can clear 200-350k without even blinking.

You're connected to the web metrix... where do those sites (like the former PCDataOnline) rank them?
