There's actually a lower "solve" rate today (with DNA/Forensics) than 30 years ago (when there was no DNA/Forensics). Pretty crazy with all this technology and science people get away with crime easier than they did back in the day when it was all grunt work.

Agreed. But let's distinguish "solve" rate from conviction rate. Ironically, criminal litigation has become less effective at obtaining convictions, just as forensic technology has become more effective at providing evidence for conviction (or acquital, for that matter). The strange truth is that physical evidence has less importance in the criminal court room today than 30 years ago.

Seriously.. a few more advances and they won't need detectives to do any thinking at all.

I was reading that thieves have been getting smarter about covering their tracks ever since CSI came out..

They need to keep that forensic stuff in books where it's safe.
