so strange how things work out.. everyone gets great ideas but they fail or never even try because they lack just one thing out of the combination to succeed

initial investments, skills, time and motivation

got all four of those and your ready to go.. i lack motivation and dont really need an initial investment for my ideas..

save me tony robbins

Ideas aren't worth shit. Usually the biggest looners have the greatest "ideas". It takes so much skills & effort to develop an idea into something real & lasting.

I have friends coming to me with "ideas" now and then. They try to get me to make their ideas work. Usually they will see the worth of their idea in the 50% range and think they're being generous. mmkay

I think the worst thing you can do is start a "great idea" half-arsed, because you don't have enough funds to do it properly.. I'd be starting my new "great idea" right now, but I don't feel I have enough capital to start it yet.

For a young student that likes the joys of life you must have been one disciplined and motivated workaholic then. I remember the time and it was easier but still a huge achievement to build up a huge exclusive site in just like 4 (?) years or less, without affiliates and starting capital. Not just that, but to have the discipline not to spend a good chunk of the money right there (in your early/mid 20's). Good good

I have an offline business that's been up for about a year now that a 10-20k shot in the arm of advertisting/marketing cash would do wonders for...

at the moment I'm just a lil too tapped out cash wise to throw that kinda money at it...

what kinda business if you dont mind me asking? and have you tried good old fashion free guerilla marketing?

door hanging, matchbooks to give to bars, flyers.. it would depend on the type of business, but these are the kinds of things i do to get extra hours at my part time job.

makes me a little extra money helping out the marketing.. but also increases business which means more tips for me

(part time pizza delivery) love it tho

If you can sell the idea, then you are halfway home, and money will follow. It's only another resource and sometimes it can make you less 'hungry' for the kill, if you dont have to work for it.

Having people that believe wholeheartedly in what you are doing, means they will move heaven and hell to make those dreams a reality, and they are the most important resources you have.

We are fortunate in that we don't need large sums of money to make our ideas, a reality. There will never be a time that we will stop being proactive, motivated and loaded with ideas.

I love creating new ideas. That's my passion and love.

And they're all pretty damn good. The downside I have more than enough of them to cover my tasking time for the rest of my life so the frustrating part is picking and choosing which ideas to develop next and putting some back on the shelf that will never get their chance to become something.

Maybe that sounds funny, but I wish I had more time in this life so I could develop them all.

To you guys that say you wish you had money for your ideas. If it is a good idea with a solid business plan and you have the skill sets to make them happen, and a few other important things, then money is not an issue. Money will find you when you are an idea man. That is a fact.

The key to raising money for your ideas is a combination of factors.

Most importantly is your enthusiasm. That is what investors are ultimately looking for from you. You have to be a shark salesman that can close the funding deal using mainly your passion for it.

Are you enthusiastic to the 110% degree about your idea?

Are you diligent and willing to work your ass off and never quit?

Do you have the experience, business knowledge, leadership abilities and marketing savvy to get the job done?

Are you trustworthy, always looking out for your partner's interests as well as your own?

Can you dance when challenges and obstacles appear?

Money guys are almost always very astute and they can spot a winner idea and a winner entrepreneur instantly.

I usually know with a couple minutes whether I'm going to do a deal with someone. Most times I don't even need to read their business plan even though I will. You can tell when someone knows their shit and when someone doesn't and is full of shit.

So cut the crap saying money is holding you back. All that is is you believing that's an obstacle. Kick that thought out the door where it belongs and just get to work putting together a killer biz plan that will knock the socks off your potential funders and get them excited as fuck where they are ready to creme in their pants.

Now I'll tell you the real secret to raising money for any venture. This is one of the most powerful secrets you will ever be told and absolutely must know and master if you want to get investment capital.

Put this on your wall and never forget it. It will work magic for you and get you all the money you need for any project.

* * * * * Don't sell the deal. Sell the dream. * * * * *

You see wealthy people don't really need more money. What they are really looking for is fun, thrills and excitement in their lives. Having lots of money gets very boring after a while. It often gets very lonely when you have so much more than others and you get pushed into this elevated protected place called wealth.

Angel investors are risk takers. That's how they typically got their money. But once they have more than enough for the rest of their lives, many tend to take it easy and just want to be the funders of deals and not the operators. They lose the energy needed to do the day to day stuff and want young guys to drive the car for them so to speak.

But they miss the thrills. And that's what they are really buying when you pitch your deal. But its not the deal itself that will ultimately close them. It's the thrill of the risk. Its the gambling syndrome. They all have it. They get high giving up their money for a chance to lose it or a chance to win more.

As crazy and simplistic as that sounds. That's what it all boils down to.

They want the rush again. The thrill of getting in on something new and exciting. Not just for the money opportunities, but also to have something unique and cool to talk about with their golfing buddies and pals at the country club.

You have to have everything done right in the presentation of course. They aren't fools. But always, always, the key is to sell the sizzle and not just the steak. The dream is the rush of the win. The anxiety of waiting for the triple 7's to line up. Those few seconds when the dice roll onto to the table. When the Ace hits your King. The anticipation of getting a Royal Flush.

The dream, guys. Its all about selling the dream. Never forget this and always use this powerful tool.

And a couple more important things. Always think BIG! There is no difference going after a million dollars in capital funding or ten million dollars. All it is is another little zero. Always go for more than you will really need.

And remember its a numbers game. Network like crazy. Make a list of everyone with money you know. You'll often be amazed how many wealthy people you know when you think about it.

You have to present your deal to many prospects to find the one that will be your angel. But they are out there, and there are millions of them just waiting for someone to sell them something exciting to be a part of.

Good luck. You can do it! Anything is possible. Go for the gold! Its waiting for you!

enough money to do what I want to do, not enough time in a day to get it all done as I prefer to do as much of it myself, my way, as possible (control freak? )

FITNESS is what i'm into. the fitness industry is booming especially in america where over 2/3 of people are obese.

people are very self conscious of it because for 1. it doesn't look good, and 2. it's not healthy and poses serious health risks.

knowing this, and loving fitness myself, over 8 months ago I began developing a site 24/7 with only making several K over that entire span (getting by on design gigs), and it is just about paying off. i'm cutting a really nice deal with *the* biggest bodybuilding site on the net (bodybuilding.com) to lease my site.

and while making that site, I came up with a lot of other even more profitable ideas which I'm putting into works now, two of which are nearly 100% unique.

of course though, my one problem i lack skill in is marketing and such, so it'll take awhile to get them big.

but I made sure to not listen to the skepticism and kept working hard at it.

When I first started messing with internet stuff I wasn't able to start a certain website that was a gold mine at the time because of $500 or so.

Not that I didn't have the money, I assumed programming for stuff on the big bad web cost 10's of thousands of $$$.

Few months later when I realized how cheap it actually was it was too late to hit the initial boom. Still could have made good money but I missed hundreds of thousands by not starting when I first wanted to so I said fuck it.

Ideas = a million.
Time = shit.
Money = I can get it up to a point if I really want it.

These days I just lack time.

I so feel you on this one...I often dream aloud to my husband, and listens to me and helps me work out the details, and then I write down what we come up with...I have a file of things, and sometimes, whenever I hit a rough time, I pull it out and remind myself of how little time there is, and every moment I spend standing still is another moments I've cheated myself out of being successful.
I always say that I'm not afraid of dying...I'm only afraid of dying before I get to do all the things I want to do.
Very, very great post...I nominate this one for the Flash of Fucking Brilliance Award!

* * * * * Don't sell the deal. Sell the dream. * * * * *

I have no experience with VC but that is some awesome advice.
Thanks

I have tons of ideas. I realized pretty soon that lack of time was the main problem, so now i'm trying to focus on getting enough money to achieve immortality within the next 30 years. Pretty hard to goal to reach but given the advances in genetics I'd say not impossible.

I know how you feel, I had and I have great ideas, brilliant moments, but it happens I need more time to do them, to finish all the things I have over my desk and inside my brain, of course that a bit more of cash would help, but it is coming anyway..

My problem is not money but time. I have the money and all the stuff coded and the time to put it online and make it work. Unfortunately I need to wait a couple of months in order to put it all on production.
I know I can go directly from A to C, but I prefer to pass through B first and make some extra cash

Everyone sitting around thinking that if they had 20k to get started they'd be able to create and empire in a couple years are kidding themselves.

Those who have what it takes to be successful don't sit around for years waiting for someone to hand them money.

If you truly had great ideas and a business plan you would be able to get money from investors. I talk to a lot of people that want me to invest money with them for their ideas but only one had an actual written plan. That one is doing ok the rest are still whining about their imaginary empire.

I have the idea, I have the product and everyone I showed this product during Internext liked it a lot. It's new, it's revolutionary and it can be the next big thing for all program owners. Some of them are already about to jump on board - the more, the better. And it wouldn't cost much money to start it - because it's already fully developed. So if anyone is looking for new ways to distribute his content than just by having some paysites - hit me up and I'll tell you more.
