Seemed like a bunch of hype. Me and one of my designers, Chris, were down for the show & we drove down to South Beach based on all the hype on the internext site. We had scored tix the night before at the Cirque De Noir (which was also overrated). I was fully pimped out with dress pants and shoes - but he had on shorts and sandals. I mean shit, it's right near the beach in South FL in the middle of the summer & nothing was ever said about a dress code for the event.
So there's a couple of pricks in shiny suits who are doormen for the club and they tell Chris he can't get in the club wearing shorts or sandals. So we left. This is after waiting in line for an hour. There were at least 5 other guys in line at the same time who were part of the convention that had to leave as well. Meanwhile, every local yokel who had nothing to do with Internext could get right in if they didn't mind waiting and were dressed the "right way". Wasn't this supposed to be a semi-exclusive event? For Internext attendees? Anyways, we head back to the hotel, talk about heading over to Cheetahs again (which we should have done - now THAT was a good club). Instead, Chris changes into slacks and shoes and we say, fuck it, let's go check out this show. When we get back (it's about a 40 minute drive each way) - it's about 1:30 in the morning - there's still a line out the door and the pricks in the shiny suits still won't let us in. He ignores us and several other webmasters - a couple of whom had already been in the club and misplaced a CC. Too bad. Meanwhile, he's picking out the local Miami girls and buddies of his left and right. Finally, after about 45 minutes of waiting, I ask Chris for his camera - I scroll through to the pic I took of him with Ron Jeremy at the hotel - I hold the camera up to the prick's face and say - "look, we're part of this show - Ron's gonna be pissed if you don't let us in" haha, a little name dropping works every time. So - big surprise - the fucker lets us right in. It's like after 2am at this point - apparently if anything went down for "Eroticafest" we missed it all because it's just a typical cliquey local yokel South Beach meat market vibe now. We wander from one overcrowded, sweaty room to another and then realize we've been duped by a bunch of BS hype. This was the big premiere party of Internext? Why is Joe Schmo off the street more important then industry people? So - did we miss anything or did it just really blow? |

Most night clubs have a dress code that doesn't allow shorts/sandals/runners ... I'd expect any adult to know this.
Oh well, still sounds like the thing was a giant let down. ![]() |

Like I said though he wasn't the only one. If it was truly an event geared towards industry types and not the South Beach crowd they would have been a little more lax on the dress code IMO. ![]() |

Clubs are all the same like that everywhere.
Crowded. Smokey. Same old same old. Bouncers pulling attitude. Fucking boring. Don't waste your time. Better to be with friends in a nice small spot with your own party. |
