I didn't see it said anywhere in the article that she did that. Did I miss it?

Yeah that does suck.
I guess he finally hit that point where the pain outweighed (sorry for the pun) the pleasure.
It's very easy to gain weight. Think of it this way...you've been a large person your whole life. You found a woman and you are in love with each other. You get married. There is no longer anything holding you back from gaining. There is no social pressure to look good to get laid. Your wife loves you for who you are inside and out. Things get comfortable. The weight slowly creeps up. Eventually the thought of exercising isn't even an option because you can't even do simple daily activities anymore without it being a chore. Therefore you don't burn what you eat.
And on and on and on. It's a vicious cycle.
It sucks.
But I'm glad he's getting help. Hopefully they give him therapy too, otherwise he'll just balloon up again.

of course I'm addicted to food!! I love eating and I eat all the time! The only difference is that I watch what/when I eat and everything else that goes in it!

My point is, you can still eat what you want. There are just better ways of going about it. I love potato chips and I used to eat a bag/day until I felt guilty. Now, I eat kettle cooked chips. These chips DO NOT have hydrogenated oil in them. Therefore there are less calories, carbs and fat.

Finding the right alternatives makes a huge difference. Next time you go to the grocery store LOOK at the labels and take a look at all the garbage that is in some of the food we eat.

Eating a bag of chips, some ice cream, and a chocolate bar b4 bed is not going to help keep the weight off.

Yoga and pilates are a great way to stay in shape without having to leave your living room.

I broke my back when I was 12 and was bedridden for 6months. I gained maybe 10 llbs b/c I was exercising while I was lyng there and was fed a proper diet.

okay, firstly, this isn't about me because trust me I read more labels than most people. That is why it takes me ages to do my supermarket shopping and I drive my mother in law (who goes with me) nuts. The thing is, people that have the condition such as I have (I am not claiming to know what this guy has wrong with him) could eat an apple and find it hard to work that off. Also, by addiction to food I mean a clincal addiction similar to the way an anorexic doesn't eat...a proper eating disorder. Obviously we are all addicted to food or otherwise we wouldn't last very long

I am just saying generalisations do no one any good. I am willing to bet that people wouldn't believe I could eat what I do and still be this big but that is the way things go for me in my life. I mean, I am being REALLY bad today and having a small bag of 98% fat free popcorn.
