Do you sign up for a program because of their pics of Dollars and nice Cars?

I've always wondered why people who design sponsor sites don't focus on CONVERSION, RELIABILITY, and TECHNOLOGY in pushing the core essence of a sponsor program.

Indeed, a thinking person wouldn't normally be sold by the images of dollar bills, champagne, and Ferraris for a NEWLY LAUNCHED program.

Perhaps, they would be wowed by statistical reports, audits, server logs, layout analysis, niche breakdown, as well as the sponsor site's understanding of how porn marketing works online.

In essence, why not focus on SELLING CREDIBILITY?

i think that's more important - reliablilty and conversion

i dont click banners with bag wads of cash and get rich quick slogans

but i guess the banners are aimed at newbies

Exactly.

Building credibility probably should focus more on BRANDING. As well as 'objective' sponsorships--ie., sponsored 'taste tests' of traffic results from well-known sites in the industry so ANYBODY can have an objective metric.

This USED to be done by thestatistician but I don't see many people impressed by them as much after they start becoming just another sponsor ad-driven site.

Exactly. Which is why it makes them all look the same. I have yet to see a "scientific" or "objective" style advertising campaign for a program.

it's all about psychology...

really, if a site were just a big text filled site with stats, etc. it wouldn't have the same psychological effect...

didn't any of you guys take a psych course in college? IMHO, it should be mandatory for any sort of advertising or marketing major...

Sure, sure. But this isn't a lifestyle product you're selling like a Calvin Klein OBSESSION ad or a new Mercedes Benz ad. You are selling a financial/investment product. Basically it should answer the question "Is this program worth my time and effort"

I'd rather sign up to a sponsor site where I can see some effort (money) is used for the design. If they can't afford a design on the affiliate site, can they afford my payouts? Bling bling or kangaroos, I don't give a fuck as long as it looks good. Money + cars are always stuff people (men) want.

no, but be honest, how many webmasters would sign up to a site with a stock ticker and a guy in a blue suit?

an affiliate program is about hype, you need enough bright, shiny objects to attract affilate attention...

goodness knows when I'm looking for a new program, bright, shiny objects tend to do it ;-)

I remember when I was with Signup4Cash and we rolled out the "generic" style design, webmasters were confused and wondered where the pics of the cars, girls and money piles were....

Who cares if they use cars/cash/champaign in their design. If it looks good and proffesional why cry about it?
Its about the sites they offer, those need to be good and to the point, I don't care about the sponsor page as long as it looks good and give sme the feeling they are reliable.

If the design targeted at the webmaster looks fresh and appealing, it?s a good sign that they have the insight and skills to judge an audience and target them efficiently.

Can they do that towards webmasters, they can probably do it towards surfers too.

So an eye-catching bling-bling design does serve some purpose?.

They should focus on the quality of their content.
