BBQ sauce on steak?!?! give me a break, you are a rookie
|
and cooking on gas? why not use a frying pan while you are at it?
sorry, you would never make it against a true barbecuist |
I grilled some ribeyes tonight myself. No sauce needed. a little olive oil, fresh cracked pepper and sea salt.
Cooked a nice medium, and tasted great! If you want to really learn how to grill, check out http://www.sharky.com |

what do you guys put on your steaks? when i cook beef i usually just sprinkle montreal steak seasoning on it. it seems that any marinade or bbq sauce would just ruin the flavor.

When I do it properly I use something called "mothers BBQ seasoning" marinade. It's a very light spice marinade. As meat is cooked I usualy sprinkle this mix of BBQ seasonings on it. Meat so tender, you can cut it with a dull plastic spoon. |
You put fucking BBQ sauce on a steak?
You make me embarrassed to be Canadian... :helpme Some basic cooking classes or even a few hours with FoodTV would do you guys wonders... |

The only things that should ever go on a steak are kosher salt (either before or after grilling depending on the cut), pepper, and a bit of butter at the end while the meat sits.
NEVER MARINATE A STEAK! (not even in lemon/lime juice & beer) |

Ok, so most of you asshats love to ruin someones parade I see.
Ok. fine. But where do you people get off telling me how to cook? Who died and made you allmighty rule book writer of BBQ'ing and grilling? Seriously,. get a life. I used BBQ sauce. OH NO! NOT BBQ SAUCE> OH NO A BIG NONO! The steak tasted WICKED. Who cares what was used. And YES I would use marinade. I like steak juicy and full of flavour. Is that such a damn crime? What do you expect me to do? Just cook it with nothing on it and only pepper for color? get off my ass. I've never seen such childishness as I have seen here today. One would think that people would have enough respect for a fellow human to not stoop to such lowlife behaviour and grilling (no pun intended) someone for cooking a certain way. |

Seriously, I am starting to think many here do not know the difference between grilling and bbq. That said, despite personal tastes on how to do a steak or if someone wishes to drown a perfectly good piece of meat with catchup after it is cooked. It is all about the taste, and if the person eating it is happy then so be it. I may have formal training, but I am far from insulted if someone pours something all over their food. Even I get weird, I always add a splash of catchup to my mac n cheese when I am eating it. |

How about instead of childish insults and "holier than thou at the grill" attitudes, why not share YOUR ways of cooking steak?

All that matters is that it tastes better cooked the way I did as oposed to just throwing it on a frying pan. Gimme a couple days preperation time and I'll make a mean fucking steak. but either way, I liked what I ate, and so did Andrew. |
