I havent seen a national healthcare plan details.

I've heard Kerry talk of taking away incentives to companies who outsource, and *giving* incentives to companies who don't outsource. Thats the extent though.

I havent seen specifics on school money, but it's really the distribution of current money that I think the issue is.
Giving more to schools who are in higher income areas doesnt seem to make common sense. But thats how it is now, so that needs fixing.

I did see the NBC story recently though about 3 people. 2 who were in the NY ferry accident. 1 woman who paid $5k a month for healthcare who was declined by her insurance company for the rehab equipment she needed.
1 man who lost both legs who had no coverage but who got total care through medicaid because he was so low income.
1 woman who had 2 free catscans and care at the hospital expense because she was an illegal immigrant.

Yes the woman who paid into care all her adult life was the one who got the "worst" care. She made "too much" money to get the medicaid.
Seems fucked up.

You have already admitted that you support money over freedom and now you say you don't want more money in the education system.

How can you possibly say that more money won't help when class sizes are huge and the only solution to that is more teachers?

One of your problems with Kerry is that he wants children to get a better education.

You are against freedom and education but for money in your pocket that your kids will have to pay back. You do sound like a perfect Republican. :1orglaugh

First off, I don't think the educational system needs to be dealt with at all at the federal level.

In addtion, and I've given real life example of this already :winkwink: , we are throwing more and more money at the school system and they are getting worse. We are spending more now per student than ever and I have yet to see any improvement.

Is it the school system or is it the lack of family structure in these childrens lives?
If Mom and Dad or just Mom arent active in their childs education. I dont care what the school system does it wont change.

Of course and you know I have great respect for you :) My family has been arguing politics at the dinner table for all my life and for the 30 yrs I have been aware of the arguments no one ever changed anyones minds no matter how hard they argued lol. Now about that mentoring thing for my wife lol.

Hehehe, me too! I have a sister who is a dyed in the wool granola (vegan, of course) girl who lives in CA, a brother and sister in law who are both geniuses and want to save the world, another brother and sister in law who are VERY religious conservatives, a sister who is clueless about anything that doesn't affect her THAT SINGLE MINUTE and my "parents" (Dad and pseudo stepmother I consider my "Mom") who have lived together for over 20 years, wear wedding rings, go to marriage counseling, own property together, but haven't bothered to get married. You can just imagine the fun WE have around the holiday dinner table when we all get together :)

JR brought up on another board that you NEVER change the other person's mind in a political argument - but I still enjoy it and don't tell anyone, but I DO learn things :)

Mandy is more than welcome to come to the real estate tax sales if she wants :)
