Page-jacking (?)

Checking my servers failed referers stats I noticed something odd, and after a bit of digging around I realized someone has mirrored one of my pages & copied it onto their site.
There it sits, and for all I know enjoys some search engine traffic at my expense.
I've mailed the search engines that I have been able to find it on and asked if they're willing to remove it from their index...

So does anyone have any experience with this type of thing?
Anyone know if the SE's remove the pages?

Oh, and 'cause it's my first post I feel duty bound to tell you to 'go fuck yourselves'! (only after you've helped me though )

Well htaccess should cover the hotlinking aspect, and the page just sitting there doesnt bother me as the sponsor links havent been changed...
But what appears to be happening is that his url (of MY page) gets returned in search results, the surfer clicks on the link to the mirrored page, then his htaccess or whatever sends the surfer straight to one of his traffic trades.
As to emailing him, of course I have, but I've no reason to expect more then a "go fuck yourself" in reply... which is why I wondered what the SE's make of this kind of thing

I would email his hosting company. He's violating the terms of service for every host I know. He's stolen your page, copyright infringement, he more then likely doesn't have a lisence for the pics, copyright infringement, and he's stealing bandwidth from your server. I don't know of any hosting co's that will allow that.

Jeanette beat me to the next comment. If his hoster refuses to do anything, remind them that they are liable as well in a CI suit if you decide to press one. Anyone involved with the site that is making profit, under the law, can be named in the suit. That includes the hoster.

Personal gain is also counted even if its not for profit.

Yeah, definately ask their server to yank them down.

ALSO, if that doesn't work, email the owner of that page and send them a big scary letter, threatening to sue them if they don't take the page down ASAP and I'm sure that they'll comply. I'm sure that if he's copying your page, he's not a real webmaster, he's some punk trying to make money from you, any real webmaster knows what you can and can't do, so if you send him an email like that, that should get him to take it down.

All for a couple of SE hits...

What pulled my chain as well is that not many search engines have indexed MY page yet - I'm wondering if thats because his identical twin brother is already being served up from elsewhere.

It could be possible thats the reason Jonny. I don't know alot about SEs. Thats the old mans area. But forcing him to pull the page is your priority. If you let them do one page, then the next thing you know, he'll have your whole site.

Its just not right. Hosts don't like to have NSI brought up so if they refuse you, then email them that you are reporting them to NSI and will see to it they are inspected for fitness to provide service. Only had to resort to that one time in more than 6 yrs but it worked. Withing 20 mins the offending site was history.
