Remember, you are Canadian, The American lifestyle is alot different, so is there healthcare, dental care, employment, schools, EVERYTHING.. that shit isnt free, like in Canada.

I think what is meant by the million is the percentage of money spent on health care,food, house payments ,bills,entertainment,dental,lessons, cars, etc etc for the kids.


Think about it ! You pay for health care for a total family instead of two people. You buy more food for a full family.

Heck, I have a truck payment now and alot higher gas bill cause I gave one of my daughters my car.

Not sure if a thousand bucks a month was spent on toys but I know a lot money was spent for current cloths trends, class outings, friends outings, birthday gifts for friends and the list goes on not including daily living expenses (fifty/fifty custody agreement with paying child support that extra expenses should of been paid by the mother).

I love my stepdaughters but there were times when I wanted to say the hell with them, they cost too much?why am I worrying about paying our bills on time and forking over money for their needs. it is very easy to do, ( not that if you dont the kid will turn out like BradM or anything) but it is very expensive to raise kids now days, not like it was even ten years ago...

I have two children so I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

$30 a day on ENTERTAINMENT is overboard. all that shit you just mentioned is shit that a kid uses INSIDE THE HOUSE...I didn't see one thing that you mentioned that goes towards the EDUCATION of that child. It's all junk and bullshit....Hell, there are parents who can afford to buy all of that crap for their kids but they won't because it's nonsense....Give the child a fucking book for God's sake....How much does that kid weigh?

Buy the kid a bike and tell him to go his ass outside and get some exercise....Why in the hell would a kid need collector cars, hot wheels, playstation games and movie dvd's? You know what I use? CABLE TELEVISION AND BOOKS. I also take my oldest daughter to the library so that she can expand her mind.

My oldest daughter gets just about anything she wants within reason but I'm NOT going to spend a lot of money on bullshit that means absolutely nothing....There's kids out here that live full and happy lives out on a farm with home education and grow up to be very successful.

And using the reasoning that "the other kids at his school gets it" is bullshit. Give the child a backbone and help the child use some fucking restraint.

Fuck, that's why there's the Columbine epidemic...Kids who get all of the bullshit they want without any substance to back it up.

I played hockey which costed around $1000 overall for the year.. thats less than $100 month. ..(but didnt pay) $250/year ski pass.. $100 movies... $100 restaurants... Thats my entertainment for the year...which I was paying.,..

Krl--I have 2 kids 13 & 10..I'm not sure if your correct or not but in any event yes its fucken expensive.. It depends what you can do for your kids.

For instance lets take camp.. Overnight camp is $6000 to $7000 per kid in my area. Day camp is $3000. I think camp can start at 4 or 5..Camp can fucken knock you by itself..

I think it mostly depends on where you live.. I'm in Phila burbs..Its real expensive but probably one of the best school districts in Pa as well as the nation....

As Greg TX said the beginning is cheap except for baby sitting..The older they get the more expensive it is..

I do have one piece of advise for everyone.. Put away as much cash as you can spare once the kid is born and put it away in the best long term stocks with dividend reinvestemnt plans..If you don't touch it can sit for close to 20 years before they start college..
