Do you think there is room for new ideas in online porn?

I'm not talking about new niches, or varietions of existing things. I'm talking about innovation. Seems to me like there hasn't been many in recent years.

Don't get me wrong, I look at online porn and I see an industry that is a leader in many technological aspects. Just look at the average TGP trade script. The basic concept of productivity is actually alien to most mainstream websites.

But still, I can't help but feel like there hasn't been anything new and exciting in recent years.

Innovation is what this industry is. Without it it would fail. Look at the mid/late 90's. That was all innovation. Now all the mainstream companys are using our tactics.

reminds me of a comment by the guy in charge of the US patent office in 1901- "everything important that will ever be invented has already been patented"

LOL good comment...Carl Benz once said at his very beginning, that the number of cars ever sold won't hit one million due to too little chauffeurs

Just have to take what we have now and evolve it to the next level. There is still room for new things. The question is... Are you capable of coming up with something new in this industry?

There's ALWAYS room for new ideas and innovations in ANY industry. The only reason why they most of the times don't occur is because the people in that industry limit themselves and feel there's no need for change and innovations. That's where new blood and new actors come in, to challenge the established players.

ohh for sure. I think innovations are eaiser to create than the next bang bus though. I'd be more interested in what will be the next site to take off where even small affiliates pull in 1000 sales a month rather than some space age innovation.

Seems, however, that innovations are not too innovating and new ideas for sites are just the same old thing re done with a minor twist. I think adult has become pretty mundane or has reached a temporary plataeu as far as ideas go.
I think the next innovation will be some type of billing method that is stable and as ubiqutious as visa, but without the hassle.
Who knows though. This business will always have some kind of issues with it due to the fact that almost all of it is conducted with complete anynominity.
In any case, what lies ahead will be interesting for sure.
Duke

Actually, this is the case in all industries. As soon as an innovative product comes out, someone will be there to "improve" it slightly and make a profit off of it. There are first movers and there are followers.

That's not true. Just because people feel comfortable keeping a status quo doesn't mean that there's a limit to how much innovation can occur within an industry. In case the status quo seems to be too stable (which I don't think is the case) then, if anything, the industry needs more entrants. Or dumb fucking noobs, as some people on this board would like to call them.

The next really dynamic change will be the introduction of holographic pornography.

About 20 years from now when the technology for holography is in everyone's house just like today's TV's you'll be able to watch porn as if its happening right in front of you. If you've ever been to Disneyland you've seen how this works on the haunted mansion tour.
