I have said my part on this thread and all was agreed upon and left as it is with Battus, but i certainly see this thread going places. Seems like the Presidential debates.:1orglaugh

Funny how people who believe in God always know what he did and what not.

If tomorrow your wife would have your baby you would say its a gift from God right? But if a day later some guy stabs your baby to death, what would that be? Also a gift from God?

How exactly do you decide what is Gods work and what not?

Then why arent you so sure about heaven and hell? Its the same people who wrote about Jesus who also said theres a heaven and hell.

What makes you sure about 1 thing and unsure about the other, especially since its coming from the same source?

I'm not unsure about heaven and hell. I believe they exist too. But I have never been to either place so there isn't much I can say about them. I only know that God will be just and fair with everyone.

Okay sure .. But he had to KNOW that's what we would do.

So why run such a cruel experiment?

You can't understand because you have no concept of what it will be like in the afterlife. I can't conceptualize it either. From God's perspective, the baby does not die, but instead comes into his loving arms. From our perspective, it is a horrible loss. We don't see things with the eyes of God.

Honestly, im trying to stay polite so with all my politeness and respect: Get yourself checked, you have some serious brain damage. Who did this to you? Your parents?

Why does it have to be cruel? You have a flock of pigeons. You release them and wait for them to come back to you.

If you follow Augustines argumentation, God would be an eternal being instead of a temporally linear one, eternal here meaning existing outside of time, or in all timeframes at once. Which makes sense - after all, a God that's subjected to time isn't really all that omnipotent.
Now, if that is the case, God only knew what the outcome of the experiment would be by actually executing it - but not without the experiment, since humans have free will and thus can't be the subject of a logical theory. This doesn't clash with the concept of God's omniscience, since God still knows reality as a whole at all times.

I'll post a more extensive thing on the whole subject in a few hours.

chodadog 07-29-2004 04:06 AM

I believe in God. Whether it's the Christian god or not, i am not sure. I don't really give a fuck what anyone else thinks about my beliefs, nor do i care about their beliefs or wish to change them.

I cant wait for shit to get moving, so some of you retards go back to heaven.

strats 07-29-2004 05:17 AM

I spend 24/7 defending my life against his incorrect behavior, and expliotation of people to selfishly perpetuate his existence while making others take the fall. Wow, what a wonderful god. U know,.... I tried it out for a small while. I discovered all its doing is relying on someone for your existence. Ok, maybe it works for some people. wonderful, and Im glad it does. you shoudl consider yourself very fortunate

Lots of hostility here. I wish some of you god bashers would learn to distinguish between the concept of a god and the people who claim to know him. Your rage and anger are caused by the actions of people who believe in God, not by God himself. You end up projecting your hatred for the believer onto the object of their belief. You don't hate Christ. You hate Christians.

So you would doubt even if you saw him in the flesh. Then why should he bother to show himself? It won't make you believe.

What then? Nothing, because there will be nobody to brainwash you. You would find your own truth which has nothing to do with Jesus. Your current truth is one which is forced upon you and you dont even realize it.

I feel sorry for you.

Dude !!!
That's an AWESOME RESPONSE !!!!

I personally believe that he is.
So you beleive that he walked on water ?

Indeed! I agree with all what you had stated, God gave us the free will so we could decide on on what are we going to believe in, he doesn't want a robot to do praises because he commanded to. On my side I do believe Him withh all my heart, I know Jesus visit the earth and suffered just to save our lives and show His pure love to us, all we need to do is accept Him as our personal savior :)

Looks like you got his cell phone as you know a lot.
Shit we don't even know what the univers is all about. How can you just follow stuff made up by HUMANS 2000+ years ago ?
When people were dumb asses (we are still dumb asses by the way hehehe)
Funny also that all the crap was written like 30 to 50 years after he died ?

Look at Elvis fans today, shit they are gathering every year and he keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger. They have candles in their hands, holding each others,, tears of joy in their eyes, saying "I heard that Elvis once gave 10k to a homeless woman on the spot": then it's "I heard that Elvis put his hands on a little girl during a concert and she was cured", like a miracle" and then......."I heard that someone saw Elvis walking on water......"
Remember what i said here as i'm 100% sure it will be a massive religion in like 300+ years from now :helpme

Well if God exists the way that everyone pictures god, you, sir, are going straight to hell.. sinner.

Fabien 07-29-2004 09:36 AM

One thing that bugs (in fact, lots of things bugs me regarding this)

Have you noticed that they always work out the scary part to make you beleive.

If you don't beleive, you'll burn in hell. If you do this blahblahblahblah
That's called MANIPULATION.
Didn't he said "Everyone is blessed" ?
"Forgive" blahblahbl
Contradictions all the times.

Have you read the first pages of the bible ? Have you read the first chapters.
Fuck we all know that all this crap is pure bull, we now know what happened (begining of the earth etc..) !! HEY WAKE UP GUYS !
Now this crap is pure bull, so my question is, when does it start to be "REAL" huh ? Tell me
Who are you to decide that this is real and this not
Contradictions all the times

With all due respect, this is an assinine statement to make. Intelligence has nothing to do whatsoever with faith. Einstein believed in God. Did that fact make him any less of an intellectual giant. All that a good scientist will be able to tell you is that science is incapable of answering the question of God's existence at the present. That is very different from asserting that no god exists and that people who believe he does are, as you put it, schizophrenic. If you really believe this, you are an idiot. I believe in God and I can promise you that I am much much more than YOUR intellectual equal.
