Capturing The Friedmans
I just finished watching it on dvd - wow. I still am not sure exactly what I think is true and what wasn't but as far as documentry film making goes the guy that started out making a documentry on New York's number one birthday clown and ended up with the story on his lap had a massive stroke of luck.
Give me a good documentry over a cheesey Hollywood film anyday. |

After seeing it my boyfriend and I keep joking about playing leapfrog.
I loved that the film showed both sides of the story including the hysterical witch-hunt mentalities of law enforcement, etc. |

I watched it a month or so ago. What a screwed up family. And honestly, I didn't think the documentary itself was laid out that well. I was rather disappointed in the whole thing - the story AND the film
 Another one you might be interested in is Into the Arms of Strangers And while it's not a documentary per se, City of God is based on a true story and is now one of my all time favorite movies  |

I think part of the reason I enjoyed it was that my mother is heavily involved with the national science fair and that is what those kids do when they aren't spelling. So most of my growing up years was spent with kids like that calling my house and hanging around my mom. I saw it in the cinema with some friends and towards the end people were cheering and booing..stuff you never hear in a London cinema. |
