I think part of the reason I enjoyed it was that my mother is heavily involved with the national science fair and that is what those kids do when they aren't spelling. So most of my growing up years was spent with kids like that calling my house and hanging around my mom.
I saw it in the cinema with some friends and towards the end people were cheering and booing..stuff you never hear in a London cinema.
