1000s of small free sites?
I know alot of poeple make a small free site submit it and forget it. I heard that a few GFY'ers have hundreds of these small sites. Example: http://www.adultclips.net/petitecentral/
I'm wondering how you guys host these? Whats the best way? ------------------

nice clean free site Unriz3n, but I think you should take some time and put meta tags, submit it to major SE's and then you can forget it for a while :-)

heh, I know. Haven't submitted it anywhere yet...trying to figure out what to do about hosting. I'm guessing i'll just use a network of freesites on paid hosting. If each small site generates 300-400 hits a day times that by 100 sites = 40k hits a day. Only thing left to figure out is should i strive for per clicks on these or per sale...because paying for 40k worth of BW a day, these sites MUST generate income.

I used to throw 'em up on freehosts, but there's been so many I can't even find most of them anymore.
![]() I'm starting to host the front pages on my server, (under a forwarded domain) then hosting the galleries on a freehost. That way the opening is nice and clean (and I can always find it) but the BW is low. Also the domain name sticks, so the surfers don't know the difference - if they bookmark they'll get the main page rather than the gallery. |

hi Warphead,
can you give me an example url because i'm not sure i understood the forwarded domain part. I can figure something like that with a subdomain, but when the user will goto the gallery will see the free host url, unless if i use frames(which i hate). |

Hi Unriz3n -
Nice looking gallery, but you need to make sure the galleries match up the thumbs with the pics. I just tried them and it doesn't seem like they match when you click a pic ![]() Couple of items to think about with galleries like this. A) I would make a page for the pictures to sit in, that way you get more advertising space. The SE traffic by and large are typically newer surfers that don't have the knowledge that the tgp surfers do. So make sure and give them textlinks/banners whenever you can. B) you don't want your newer SE surfers to be distracted by all the banners that are found on a free host. You also won't be doing anywhere near the traffic either. I do about 2% of the traffic from my SE stuff versus the new TGP pages that I have been putting together. So a paid host would be the way to go in my mind, and I'm not trying to be prejudiced here either. Lightning where would you host your SE galleries if you had them? Paid or free ?? Something else I would suggest for you Unriz3n is that on your host you get someone that will setup some alias directories for you. I have over 100 domains that I own, and each one of them has the following aliases to them /content would hold all of your pictures and have a .htaccess file that only allows your domains to use it, that way you have all your picture files in one place that can be called from anydomain. So http://www.abc.com/content/gallery1/ is the same as http://www.xyz.com/content/gallery1/ without having to eat up the extra disk space and hassle when you need to edit something. Make sure you have the rights to use the pictures on all your domains first! I also have a /revshare directory that is available to all domains as the same. In there I hold the banners to the revshare programs, and the include files that place the banners and text in my html pages. The include files are little snippets of html code for each partner program and each banner or text that I want to use. I then use php to include these in the html page on the fly. That way if I want to change out sponsors all I have to do is make the change to 1 or 2 files and all my sites now have a new sponsor. This would be really useful for days like today where ARS is having a $75 spiff and then tomorrow I could just change them back to their original codes ![]() The paid host option gives you lot's more functionality than you could ever get out of a free host, and since the traffic is not going to eat your lunch like tgp traffic might you may want to consider going that route ![]() Tim |

Also can be handy because if you enter the site through the adultcheck entry http://cumslinger.com/sites/gangbang/warning.htm then you bookmark - you'll end up bookmarking the adultcheck page rather than the content page. Another advantage: if we're trading traffic any hits I send you from http://www.cumslinger.com will come referred by adultcore.com/cumslinger - so hits I send from there get counted in script trades with adultcore. The CS traffic is very high-quality, so my productivity is high. See, what technically is a disadvantage of having a domain forwarded can be used as an advantage if you put some thought into it. ![]() [This message has been edited by Warphead (edited 05-04-2001).] |

Host free sites on a paid host. Don't worry about the bandwidth bill -- worry first about getting the traffic. If you can attract 40K of decent traffic, you will cover your bills easily. BUT -- it's harder to get that much good traffic than you think. The traffic to free sites drops off quickly after they leave the "new" section of links lists, etc. So a "build it and forget it" site is not going to pull as much traffic as you are assuming.
Another idea -- make AVS sites instead. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Bandwidth becomes a nonissue and you definitely can make money if you're smart about it. Good luck. |
