Chiropractic... A Heaven Sent Or A Big Rip Off?

I go to Chiro 3 times a week, and I feel great just after the adjustment. I rarely ever get sick and I feel more energized. But holy shit if I miss my adjustments for a week or so I start getting really stiff and getting down.

Is Chiro a big addicting massage treatment that sucks all the money out of you or is it a great healthy treatment that everyone can benefit from.

Your ?

I love it, but I've also been annoyed with having to go/pay regularly to get the really nice results...

however, when you think of it like brushing your teeth it's not soo bad...I like the way my breath smells and teeth feel when I brush regularly...so I just do it

I think that in the long run, they are more damage then they are worth.

My mom used them for several years, and then for some reason had to stop. It took her months to get over the stiffness that cam after. ( withdrawls ) hehehe

that was about 25 years ago. and she still has some probelms with bad weather..

it is the biggest scam around . . . ask any insurance company . . . they tweak you with a timer, so you have to keep coming back.

I can assure you that if you go to a real doctor, follow the therapy that they prescribe, the pain will go away. . . permanently

you can grow weed for free in your closet, it's extremely expensive to keep a chiropractor in your closet for those times you need them

Hmm, that's a tough one. A lot of people have had major debates over this one. I know people that swear by them and people that swear at them. Personally, I use them as a fixer-upper. I was in a car accident and totalled my car years ago, if I didn't go to a chiropractor, I wouldn't have been able to do anything for a lond time. Instead, I was back to normal in weeks. On the other hand, I don't think it is healthy to rely on them to help you feeling normal on a day to day basis, unless you have serious back problems to begin with.

I love going to the chiropractor...however there has been studies to suggest recently that there is the danger of stroke due to the wrenching of the neck and it tearing vessels in the neck.

as a few pointed out, really the best bet in making or keeping your back in good shape is the gym...and swimming, walking, etc...

but man those adjustments feel good if you got a good DC...

Good point, very good point. I wonder if CCBill has a "rebilled daily for your convenience" option...

My chiro doctor has like an assembly line going at his office. He lines people up basically and you will wait from 5 minutes up to 45 minutes to get your adjustment. I totally hate his system but aparently I am too dumb to leave. The crazy thing is the adjustment takes no longer than 2 mins!!

I love the Chiro. I got 2 times a week now. My buddy is my doctor, so I don't mind that he bilks my insurance company for hundreds of dollars each week for a few in and out visits.

I wanted to go to a chiropractor for my back, but my doctor sent me to physical therapy instead. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back (L4). I've had 3 months of physical therapy, starting at 2x a week and going to 2x a month. Mostly I got deep tissue massage and stabilization of my back.

We worked a lot on how to strengthen the muscles that support that area of my back and I've noticed a HUGE improvement. I'm now doing 20 minutes of "core pilates" at home 6 days a week and walking as much as I can find time for. My stomach and back muscles are so much stronger and my back and legs are way more flexible from working out with the ball and the band.

If I had it to do all over again, knowing what I know now, I'd do the physical therapy a lot earlier than I did. I wouldn't even think about a chiropractor.

the above is exactly what I am talking about. I had a lot of experience in this field when I was involved in law, and there is a reason why insurance companies will fight a chiropracter claim and accept one from an MD.

Oh god, I love it. It feels so good.

My best friend since kindergarten and her husband are both chiropractors, so luckily I don't have to pay for it. My BCBS insurance covers it, though.

At best they are a temporary fix...and sometimes this is just a "placebo effect"...at the worse they can do more damage to you.

DH, my dad had back trouble all his live, and went to a chiropractor regularly. Now, he can hardly walk, is in constant agony, and is fast approaching the point where he'll have to get a wheelchair. Many specialists who've recently treated him say that the chiropractor was (at least partly) to blame.

How unusual...an intelligent post...from a Mule. I personally know of similar cases.

I think they're good for minor tweakings here and there, but I wouldn't trust them with major injuries or chronic back/neck problems.
