pretty good case against Disney but no lawsuit by the owners of the movie they copied. a lot of 'borrowing' goes on in tv and movies. you pretty much have to steal something word for word to get sued.

i'm sure Disney patterned the Lion King after Kimba - they are a pretty sleazy company.

Probably was.. Disney has made most of their fortune off of using "public domain" works like Peter Pan and Snow White..

Funny thing is they are one of the biggest lobbyists for extending copyright forever.. right about when some of their old Mickey Mouse stuff was getting close to being public domain.

I don't think that this is any secret. I've read before that the Lion King project started out as a "remake" of a Japanese movie about Kimba the White Lion.

Yep.

They made huge bling with it and paid zero to the storywriter.

They never had success with something they wrote themselves.

Started with Snowhite and the 7 retards, lately they buy their stuff from Pixar.

It's a huge marketing machine, if you can't buy it, steal / sue it.

Kinda Micro$oft.

Mickey Mouse's copyright was due to expire in 2003, along with Winnie the Pooh . Most people don't know it but Winnie the Pooh is a larger $$$ franchise to Disney than Mickey mouse. The Sono Bono Act extended copyrights out another 20 years.

Its interesting, copyrights were rarely extended since this country was founded, but in the last 40 yearss, copyright's length has been changed to longer terms 11 times.

The lesson to be learned is that America is run by big business.
