Mickey Mouse's copyright was due to expire in 2003, along with Winnie the Pooh . Most people don't know it but Winnie the Pooh is a larger $$$ franchise to Disney than Mickey mouse. The Sono Bono Act extended copyrights out another 20 years.

Its interesting, copyrights were rarely extended since this country was founded, but in the last 40 yearss, copyright's length has been changed to longer terms 11 times.

The lesson to be learned is that America is run by big business.
