surfers: who are they?
I remember the initially confusing and eventually informative road I took to understand just "WHO" was my audience. I learned from examining my statistics and sales reports just "WHO" was looking for my particular content. Keywords, referrers hunches, it's all so fascinating.
What I hope to gleen from this thread is your take on surfers. Do you have any pet theories about them? What do they want? If they get what they want, will they want more? Like today, it ocurred to me that some surfers might have "favorite" pictures and videos, ect. that they want to keep. What if they had a virtual hard-drive on the internet where thay could keep their favorites? What if it were marketed as a "PRIVATE-FOLDER", would it do better than other online storage sites? What if the virtual drive-space were a partner with a paysite? What if the paysite made it so the "favorite" could easily be sent to the "PPRIVATE-FOLDER"? Would a surfer like that? So anyway, surfers...what up with them? What are they trying to pull. Tell it here. ------------------ tit, Mowsebytes Porn Newsletter: Webmasters submit your sites here. |

We have like 90+ other countries on most of our stats. Some are even more! So we be screwed for all those old USSR countries traffic and such. Middle east, lots of places. I just started studying them, learning from the hubby what it all means and it surely is frustrating to see!!

Doesn't it give you a tich of a thrill realizing the folks from across oceans have been to your place? I may be a jaded-old netahead, but I still think it's nifty! tit |

I'v done most of my thinking on the different niches and what the subcincious appeal is for some of them. For instance with amateurs (less attractive ones in particular) I don't think it's the looks they're after but the approachablness (?) even though it's just a pic.

Yeah longhair. I dig it. They want to see someone they might actually meet, nekkid.
I also think that when we dig deeper into what turns the average surfer on, we find there is no average surfer. What does this mean to the webmaster? Do we spread ourselves out across the vaste nich-wasteland? Do we confine our sites to single markets? Do we just build what we like? Are there surfer niches that will not generate enough sales to justify promotion? |

I do some spreading, but mostly what I like. For some niches that just don't do it for me, i've found it's hard to write effective ads. At least until i've practiced a bit. However, i do a lot of other niches too, just to hit some of that traffic. Recently i've found myself relying on too few sponsors and too few niches and profits were down. So i pounded out some other niche stuff on other sponsors and I'm back up again.
But, I think there are some similarities in what surfers are looking for, but many more differences. |
