OUCH on their pricing for what they give. They give more HD space but are low on every other thing!

i have a site hosted by them - on cnet's site speed test it's average ping time is - 3ms!!!!!!!!
Their support has always mailed me back in under 2 hours.
When i posted on the Q&A board asking about their package - no one came forforward saying they could beat the basic package, though one company said they'd match it.

They are still too high! The transfer rates would eat you up on overusage.$3 a gig for overuse and so low on the package gig rates in amount so plan on paying alot of 3 dollares!!

Ping rate from cnet? Ping them yourself and test it. If cnet is close by, of course the ping will read low!!

You can't go by dollar rate on a package. 50 a month for **2** domains and only 15 gig? True you get 300 megs of space to encourage you to use it and then they nail you at the end of the month.

Unless you just want a small site with little traffic that is...

It just pinged 203 avg ms from ohio on a known fast dialup. I just pinged one of our overseas servers at 136 ms. 7:30 on a Sunday morning should be slow on surfers eh?

Just some thoughts...

i just tried 2 page load tools - one from my pc (in UK) and the other from webperf.org - my index page loads in under 0.5 seconds on both tests.
What do you consider good overage charge? $2 a gig?
It is uneconomical for me to go for a host that gives me a higher starting bandwidth - i used a total of 6 megs of my own bandwidth this month - so in effect 3gigs of just one of my hosts was completely wasted. Aeanetwork also let you cancel your contract, so if you start burning lots of gigs, you can just cancel and move, or change package with them/ haggle with them.

Kat, how much storage do you use for your site and how many visitors did you get that month that you had so low bandwidth use? Im still wondering about how much bandwidth my site could eat up.

I guess it comes right down to what package you guys are looking at with them before much can be said... how many domains you are talking about. All the particulars. Sorry after an all nighter and reading how great this that and the other host is (based on pricing etc only from our views) AND counting the years since we first started dealing with hosts...(1995)

lol I just get a lil hairy when I see what a great deal is (when it basically sux when you know hosts) One of the largest adult hosts in the states are nothing but guff and like to charge for no services, and will threaten to sue for non-payment as well... Needless to say they didn't get paid. Turns out their costs were too high and their support started out nice for 2 days but then pffffft. Lots of the adult world swears by em tho.

It just goes to show that you realllllllly need to shop around before commiting. And you don't *have* to contract with ANY host if they are good. We pay 12 mos ahead, always have and always will. If they won't refund the diff, if you decide to move then you 1) didn't read the fine print or 2) they are ripoffs.
