i would list my own galleries (and submitted and other gals i like there) and would try to get some traffic from my tgps submitted galleries to the tpg (with a little textlink saying : "Click here for more galleries" or someting).

would this be a good method to get the tgp going a bit ? anyone has experience with this or knows any document i should read ?

also , does a tgp require a lot of bandwith ? and where should i host it ?

i know these are a lot of questions maybe i should have divided them in different posts

any reply will be greatly appreciated.

TGPs only make money with mass traffic so your going to need a good bit of bandwidth.

Hosting: I use www.bluegravity.com I'm sure you could find it for a little bit cheaper, but their customer support is the best I've found so far.

but i don't really plan to put a lot of banners on the tgp itself.
it's just so that when a surfer likes one of my galleries he can check out more of cool galleries of the same quality at this tgp
off course if the tgp starts to get off i would consider taking on trades to increase the traffic.

but i think that a tgp where all my galleries link to and that links to all my galleries will increase the quality traffic on all of my galleries and will eventually increase my sales.

am i thinking right here, or is this a very stupid thought ?

Make a recip for your galleries and add it w/some others. You'll get better listings than using the textlink.

Make the ultimate site...a site that you would visit on a regular basis. Consistent updates, easy to navigate, hot clean content/galleries, hottest galleries top of the list, easy to remember or bookmark, and don't worry about making money off it to start. Just concentrate on gaining bookmarkers and growing traffic. Money will come with the hits. Keep it simple. No consoles. Feel it out as you go..try to get the surfer's idea of what the site is and work with it to make money. From our experience, niche TGP's in general seem to be easier to grow, and easier to make money on than general. I'm sure other experiences differ.

Submit galleries to big tgps with yours and their recips, and no sponsors at first. Just get some recognition and some hits. Yeah, it costs money to do that, but that's an investment in your future traffic. Make sure your site is looking great and updated all the time. Build a couple cookie cutter free sites in your niche, and submit them to all the link sites. Be looking through the counters to find sites in your niche and hit range that are trading traffic as you grow. Try to exchange traffic with sites that aren't as good as yours. That way you have the upper hand on the link trade. You're more likely to keep their bookmarker then them to keep yours. Don't trade hits with CJ sites if you're working on bookmarkers.

Might sound crazy, but if you follow that, you'll have 70,000 uniques a day to play around with in 2 months, and you'll know how to do it 100 times over.

I tried making a TGP once a ways back on a free host, but it's DAMN HARD WORK. So much updating and shit, too much for a lazy guy like me

However getting traffic there isn't too hard, neither is retaining it. Just make sure your recip is a quick loading image that attracts more attention than other recips (just dont make it too big, and keep it fairly simple).

the tgp would mainly be a mean to increase my overall traffic on all of my galleries, i don't have much galleries right now but i'm making a lot of them these days and will link them all together on my tgp.

hey, TGP's can be alot of work if you take the long way of doing it, approving galleries constantly, updating trades, and the rest of the crap that goes along with maintaining a tgp. If your interested in a simple, hands-free tgp system, contact me, I created a couple scripts that auto-updates your tgp with a huge database of over 20,000 galleries, that are all hosted, so u get paid for any signups that they generate(IMO, the best way to do it). My script also creates thumbnail preview's, and auto-update's your main page, so you dont have to worry about galleries.
