Signup vs. (bulk) Clicks

Hello

I am getting the impression that most webmasters prefer getting paid pr. signup
rather than pr. (bulk) click. Why is this?

The argument I have heard most often is "unless you have really low traffic, it will not pay off". Am I missing something?

I get around 10.000 uniques on a site offering free movie/picture downloads. All my traffic comes from link sites that only accept 100% free sites into their indexes.
My personal experience shows that this traffic converts very badly into signups, since the user is browsing for free pornography - and comes from a huge listing of just this.

But hey, I bet most of your sites (which you use for clicktrough programs anyway) are free as well - so why is signups working so well?

Feel free to ignore this message if it is too blurry, haven't had an hour sleep in 2 days ;-)

Regards,

It depends if the traffic converts or not, if it don't then send it to a ppc, monitor it over a week or or two and see which makes the most $'S.
On low traffic sites it's not really worth using a ppc proggy cause it will take too long to make any thing so it's probably best to use you best partnership or per signup proggy and leave it to chance.

per signup is way better if you now how to convert your traffic.
i do movie galleries and when i was using clickthru sponsors i made some 50$ off one gallery, now i use a per signup prog, i make over 300$ of one gallery.

even on traffic from free sites paysites convert very well, with 10000 hits a day of quality (linksite is quality) traffic you can easily make a lot of money.. you just have to tickle your surfers, this does not mean throw 75412 sponsor banners at them. One catchy text link can make you 10 times more money than 10 banners. Just think about your sponsor placements, en try different things..

btw, what linksites do you use ? 10.000 hits/day from them seems a lot.

thx

I'm a signup man myself, and I can't really understand why people would go for CT..

If you can't convert, you won't get paid by ct sponsors. And if you do convert you will always make more with per signup.

It does happen often too that your conversion ratio is good enough to get paid per click but if you would get paid per signup you would earn less.

F.e. naughty-celebs pays $22 per signup. Their straight click rate is $0.04 per click.
This means you need a ratio of at least 1:550 to be better out using pay per signup. With my celebrity sites I'm usually just above this ratio, I have mostly a ratio of about 1:700 or something like that.
In this case pay per click is thus better than pay per signup.

Take a look at your own signup ratio and compare this with the amount of money you should have made with pay per click programs.

example: you get $30 per signup or $0.04 per click. So if your signup ratio is less then
30/0.04=750 you should consider a pay per click sponsor with your traffic!!!
